About your taste in music, that's totally understandable... It's what you're used to. I honestly don't see kpop as a genre, to me it's more like a music style in the sense that you're going to find k-pop, k-rap, k-jazz, k-r&b, k-everything. Yes, they give it their own style by focusing a lot on dancing and visuals hence the crazy music videos but the base of western music is there, what changes is the language 🤷🏻‍♀️ Korean✨ Language comes with culture tho, so there may be songs that even with the translation you need a Korean person to explain it and that's the beauty of music, even if you don't understand it you can still enjoy it 😊
