Jared Diamond is not an anthropologist - he is a geologist- and his analysis work is generally considered highly racist and incorrect ( my most recent anthro prof called it "garbage") by many anthropologists and other social scientists. He does, however, have incredible synthesis skills.

Great books, i read just the one written by Jared Diamond, I love such books which give you a framework to look at the world the way it is today. Need to read the rest.

Have you ever read 1491 by Charles C. Mann? I thought it was well written, but I don't have the training to evaluate whether it is solid scientifically. Just curious what you thought of it, if you've read it.
