Man I LOVE fishin a tube. I use it all year round fishin north Georgia lakes. They are especially good for catching spotted bass. Texas rig it with a wide gap hook and skin hook it to make it hang free... The biggest secret I have learned, especially around rocks is to put a glass bead between the tungsten sinker and tube. You are correct that almost noone around here uses them, but I've put a lot of fish in the boat and money in my wallet at tournaments with them.

What’s your preferred weight for fishing them? I’ve tried them with a 1/8 oz but have also has success with 1/16 oz

Big believer in the Zoom Ol’ Monster and Magnum Ol’ Monster. Love the Mann’s 9 inch hardnose ribbon tail too. Both of those have gotten big bites for me. I used to turn my nose up at Zoom lures, but I learned how effective they are last summer and have since I repented of my error. I’m trying to learn how to trust all three of your experimental lures too Gene. I have magnum Tricks, have had Coffee Tubes and Senkos sitting around for years. So, I have much to learn. Thanks Gene.

We like the tubes up north because they slaughter everything. Pike, musky, walleye, lake trout, you name it. The best one I've fished is the Craw Tube by Big Bite Baits. Swim it, drop it, drag it, doesnt matter. It will be interesting to see if I can catch anything on it down south!

I put a piece of those squishy orange ear plugs soak in scent inside the tube and hold it in with a tooth pick . Texas rigged or nose hooked. Carolina rigged the ear plug keeps the tube floating off bottom.

Using the right ewg hook is just as important as choice of plastic as far as your texas rig staying rigged true as you fish it. Took me a while to learn this, to learn how much of a difference a hook makes. I love the mustad ewg grip pin hook, the keeper makes all the difference.

Alright, so I bought a lake house two years ago (on Lake Jordan in Alabama), but have never fished in my life. I have a boat and love to cruise the water, but hey, if you're living on the water ya might as well learn how to fish, right? Gene, your videos on beginner stuff have been a godsend and I really appreciate you taking the time to make them. God bless ya!

Hey Gene, give the weightless texas rig Senko an extended trail - you'll be converted. You don't need to fish it slowly back to the boat. My experience has been that 80-90% of the hits happen within a few seconds of the initial fall on the cast. And yes, I feel dumb offering you a fishing tip!

I got the Zoom Ol Monster because of it's big ol tail to fish the dark water creeks here in Eastern SC. I clip off most of the body and fish it weightless. Kind of looks like a leech in the water. Green Pumpkin is the color. Also the Zoom Fat Albert Grub. Killers!

I freakin' love fishing Zoom 6" lizards. The junebug with chartreuse tail lizard is money for the fishing lake at work. The last 3..whats wrong with fishing a senko/stik bait? I dont buy the Yamamoto's much because of the price but give me a pack of Yum Dingers in Carolina Pumpkin/Chartreuse or Watermelon seed/chartreuse and I am a happy fish catching dude. I recently discovered the Zoom magnum finesse worm and I really like them too. Junebug is the juice for alot of the ponds and small lakes I fish. Never have fished a tube. Like you said Gene it's more of a nothern bass fishing thing. Want to get more experience in with the big worms.

New bass fisher here. Threw craws last night for the first time and had an “issue” with the bass ripping the claws off, but not hitting the body. First cast, violent strike then slack. Reeled in and saw 1 claw gone. Next cast to the same spot and same thing. Reeled in and no claws left. Changed craw out and same thing happened. I feel like I’m just wasting money

those tubes.. try to rig it the opposite way you would think.. if you have crawdads.. the way they fall makes them look like em and those tentacles look like claws as you pull it up.. at least thats what I always thought about tubes, and ika types the new tube I guess... I should try them here also.. when the crawdads show up in the rocks. trying new baits also can be a pay day especially if the smarter fish haven't seen those baits before.. I have also gotten a few on lizards though I don't use them much.. it might be a sign I should use them more. im on heavy pressure on the banks.. that get hit multiple times each day sometimes a lot . so I get skunks but I can still bring some up here and there.. some nice ones every once in a while also. this place is a grind fest though at least on the limited banks.

The0NLYTurtle depends on what your focus is man. If you are searching for them or on a big gravel flat or slopped banks it’s hard to beat the Carolina. But if you are dragging or flipping through cover or off drop offs the Texas.
