I love my greenstalks! I have a thematic one: all lemon herbs. I’ve planted lemon grass, lemon basil, lemon cilantro, lemon thyme, lemon balm, lemon mint and a flower called lemon drop. I’m excited for when it all matures and surrounds me with lemon scent.

That sounds amazing! I adore lemon basil and citrus mint (not sure if I had lemon mint or something else) but had no idea about some of those other ones! The lemon basil I like to use in simple summer bouquets with zinnias - makes the whole kitchen so bright (visually and aromatically).

This is absolutely beautiful! I'm so in awe of your creations not just this property but the one you moved from! It is an inspiration to try harder to create something beautiful in my yard. After my husband passed away in 2009, I put aside making my home a special place to live. I'm beginning to dream again at 75 years young and learning to grow in a green stalk! I love taking care of my tower and dreaming what my yard can look like once again. Many blessings Jess and Miah 💋😘

That is so great to hear! I pray that after the loss of your beloved husband that you continue to keep working on things that keep you busy and make you happy. My mom is almost 89 years old and after losing my dad 4 years ago, she was obviously grief stricken, but today, she's doing what she can physically do to keep her plants growing (with help from family to lift things for her) but be encouraged, she did i! Stay busy and grow beautiful things. Walk with the Lord and get involved in His creation. I'll bet your green stalk turned out great! May the Lord bless you and keep you dear one.

I see how hard they work and I wonder the same thing, except I'll be 68 years old this year, and my hubby will be 64, so we obviously can't do anything close to what Jess and Miah are doing. They've got to be 30 years younger than me. So when I think back to my 30's and 40's, we could have done it. Also, I see people in their videos sometimes and I'll bet they have some kind of help. Raising your kids to help from a young age is smart. I see a lot of families on You Tube who have huge farms and a lot of kids. Those kids are learning a trade while being a blessing to their parents. But they do work hard and it's nice to see this generation of younger people who are living this life style influence the next generation. Maybe there's hope that our country will be OK if people set their minds to doing what Jess and her family are doing. It's people like her and Miah that got my husband and I moving our rear ends at our age after we retired from our jobs. This is even harder work than what we previously did for a living, but much more rewarding! God bless you, and also may He bless Jess and Miah.... and their family!

Greenstalk if you live in area with FREEZING, you might want to remove the top watering tier. Apparently the soil can expand when frozen... and " lift" that top tray a bit, if then gets windy that tray can become airborne...like a frisbee..lol. The neighbors brought ours back luckily...I decided to keep that part in the barn for the winter after it happened twice. Not a " bad" thing... just something to be aware of. LOVE OURS!

I’m in Florida and I had a volunteer cherry tomato pop up around December. I dug it up and put it in my greenstalk inside my greenhouse. Over the cooler months it thrived, I had to trellis it. By the time February/march rolled around it was huge. Last month I moved both my Greenstalks out of the greenhouse and into the garden. That cherry tomato is about 12 feet long now growing out of my greenstalk.

I was just talking to my sister who lives in South Carolina last night about these GreenStalks. I ordered myself one in the stone color for my Birthday yesterday. I had to go back and search your earlier video about them. I’m in Northern California and sis and I are seniors now and I talk about how much I love your channel and if I was only younger I would consider this lifestyle. But since recently widowed 4 weeks ago now actually, I’m going to raise my salad greens, grow some lovelies (flowers) as I call them and be thankful that I can still enjoy my little garden sanctuary. 💜🙏🏻💐

Gardening was my happy time and I was so afraid I would not be able to do it anymore. But when you demoed the Greenstalks I had to try them and I love them. I still can't stand for long periods of time and they have been my favorite way to grow greens and berries on my deck so I can get at them when I want to use them. Hey Jess, I am addicted to this channel, and you and your sweet family! I'm 62 years old and not in the best health. We live in Illinois now, we have been here for 20 years. My husband was born and raised here. I'm a southern girl, so in October he will retire and move me back home. I'm from Tennessee. I have one child, a son. He is 43 and has a beautiful little family. My granddaughter is my heart. In September of last year I had a brain aneurysm. My doctors had prepared my family for the worst. I am a Christian so GOD stepped in and now here I am! The doctors said if I lived, I would not have all of my senses and would not have a quality of life as I knew it before. I was in a coma for a while, my heart stopped beating three times. My son is a very strong willed man. He stayed at the hospital with me for two weeks. He had all of my nurses and my team of doctors come and they laid hands on me and Prayed everyday. I was in the hospital for 5 weeks. Then I was moved to a rehab hospital in Chicago. It was a long hard stay there, I had the best team of nurses and doctors in this world. Had they not worked with me 24/7, I believe I would not be here to tell my story. I take every opportunity I get to talk about this. I'm sorry to be telling you and your viewers all of this, but I think God told me to. Maybe someone reading this will be Blessed by it. I surely hope so. So, we are looking for land now to start our new homestead on. And you are giving me some wonderful ideas for our new farm, I want to thank you for all of your post. I'm not sure where we will move to, but it will be in the south somewhere! God Bless you and your family, I look forward to your next post. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My greenstalks are bursting with salad, herbs, strawberries, a few flowers just about to bloom and several experimental plants. I put bush tomatoes, peppers, a couple varieties of eggplant, a couple small cabbages just to see how they would do. The tomatoes are fruiting but the leaves are a bit yellow so I’m troubleshooting that. I had a bad start with the greenstalks last year but this year has been a great success. I changed the soil, added worm castings and granular fertilizer for veggies, filled them as full as I could and started seeds indoors and transplanted them out. I haven’t had to purchase green onions, lettuce or herbs in months. I LOVE walking out my door with a bowl and harvesting dinner. Also, set up my greenstalks with the deep pockets on the bottom 3-4 tiers and the leaf pockets up top.

@@randd3217 I initially used bags of soil from the “Kellogg” brand. It’s organic and I saw other another KZfaqr use it in large containers. It was too chunky. Water ran right through. Seedlings wouldn’t sprout. It was a huge fail. I had to go back and try again. I chose a richer, darker, more dense soil the second time and I’m having way more luck this year. You just want something that will hold water well. Hope that helps.

I never throw out potting soil, just refresh it every 2/3 yrs. I've container garden for many years. Seeds sometimes takes forever esp if temps are not above 50 at night yet. I started lettuce from seed inside then transplanted. I waited 3 extra weeks after I transplanted. Smaller size containers versus a 29 gallon container you will have to water alot more

You can add mind reader to your list of skills. I was just wondering yesterday why so many people plant strawberries in containers instead of in ground. I didn’t know they could comeback each season in a container.

Greenstalk is one of those rare brands that truly lives up to the hype. It’s sooo well designed. I bought one on their mothers day sale a few years back and every season I’m amazed by how much I can grow in it. Right now I have strawberries and a jalapeño plant that overwintered from last year in my greenstalk. And I just planted three levels of sweet potato slips - 3 slips per level. Super excited to see how the sweet potatoes do!

This is the most awesome cottage garden I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait till it’s finished because it will be gorgeous. I don’t have space for one now but if we ever find and buy land like we want, this is a definite addition I will add to our farm. You have given me so many great ideas! Green stalks are such an awesome way to have a garden with little space. I am thinking of having my kids buy me one for Mother’s Day to use with my greens. I saw that you are going to be at the homestead festival at Rory Feeks farm in June. Will you be speaking? My husband got me tickets for our anniversary and I am so excited. I hope to meet you while we are there! And thanks for letting us preorder your new book. I ordered mine yesterday and can’t wait! Thanks for all you share!

Because you think so highly of it, I decided to buy my mom a garden stalk vertical garden for my mom so that she has a place to grow herbs. The area she's always tried to grow herbs is just terrible; the soil is bad, there are tree roots all over, and it doesn't quite get enough sun. Our family tradition of gifts is that we know what we're getting each other before we purchase, but in this case my mom said "I trust you" and didn't want to see it first. She that's because I trust you, Jess, to recommend something that works. So thank you. Because I suck at gifts, but because of you and your channel I was able to FINALLY give my mom a worthwhile gift.
