MY FAVORITE DRILL FOR MORE CLUBHEAD SPEED (Do It Anywhere)

Here's my favorite drill for more clubhead speed. This one allows you to know for sure that you are getting more clubhead speed with your driver. Do the drill with driver but it applies to all of your club.
Increasing your clubhead speed takes work. This means you can't just be working on this once a week. You need to do it daily. Unfortunately, most people can't make it out to the range. So if you can't get to the range why not do drills around the house. Well, that's what this drill is for.
Simply take out your driver or an old driver and leave it sitting out where you can do some practice swings. 5 to 10 minutes a day I want you to do this drill. If so, you will change your power source to the legs and hips and finally get more clubhead speed.
Now you know why this is my favorite drill. It gets you learning the power source of a powerful, effortless, pain-free golf swing and you will know for a fact that your clubhead speed is increasing. Can't ask for more than that.

You know back when I was a teenager, there was a golf pro in Alton, IL that showed me this very drill. He said you want to hear the club "swoosh." I got away from it until I found your videos a few years ago. Who would of thought that was some the best advice anyone could give me as a young golfer. Thanks Paul, you're the master! Your should get the golf teacher of year award.

Paul’s tips and methods absolutely work. Since I started applying them a couple months ago, I’ve gone up at least a club or two in distance on my irons and I’m hitting my driver much more consistently and longer. My handicap has already dropped 4 strokes from an 18 to a 14. Do these drills a little bit everyday as Paul says and you’ll start to see an improvement in a few weeks.

I have taught many people in your situation who took a break and are getting back into it. Anyone in this situtation will hit with their arms when they get back into golf. This is due to human nature. I talk about it in this tip: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nNt_fdunxJiWeJ8.html Sounds like you understand the concept of not hitting with the arms and using your body. Stay focused. Hitting will never work (even though it feels good) and you run the risk of hurting yourself. Congrats on the ace! Great feeling when you get one. Now on to #2.

PW is the only teaching pro that isnt afraid to state the obvious reasons why most struggle at golf when theyve been ok at other sports.But i feel his frustration! most want the latest secret or tour pro move.Listen to PW the secret is all tour pros learnt as weak kids we are learning as strong men frightened of embarrassing ourselves by missing the ball and develop a hitting technique not to miss the ball then we become obsessed with doing this and hitting it straight so we are not embarrassed looking for our ball all the time Kids just make a swish and dont care!

For sure. I want people to get it so I'm not going to candy coat it. The faster people realize "why" they are not improving the faster we can get on to learning it. Do I get people bashing me. Yes. I really don't care because I don't want to teach those people anyway. Hitting hard is the problem. It is due to human nature which I have been talking about for over 20 years. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nNt_fdunxJiWeJ8.html This is everyone who did not learn as a kid so a big part of the golfing population and yet no one is even talking about this stuff and trying to get people to stop hitting with their arms. If you learned as an adult you need to learn a different way to do it. Takes a little work but the payoff is huge. Glad you get it. Thanks for the support.

Swoosh due to body swing, not arms...... Cool! focus on the lower body causing the swoosh.... Been watching for the past year or so and slowly getting the body swing, easy to tell the difference. 230yds vs 190yds with the 'same' swing... no, actually can start to feel the body swing and those swings add 30yds easily, it takes time and getting better and more consistent each range and round. Your belt buckle and hinge/rehinge have added to complete the swing too.... Bought the body swing last week (black friday) and now am going through from start to finish. Lots of videos and lots of information in the eBooks. All for the cost of one lesson. Your humor, demeanor, and caring attitude are clear..... Best Wishes and Thank You!

A blast from the past. Great drill. I finally found my swing after about 45 years trying to figure it out. I’m a big fan of the teachings of the great Mike Austin. When I unwind the lower body and let the arms follow I play great. The second I freeze the lower body I hit bad shots. So after watching this video I decided to go and clean off the dust on all my DVDs. Lo and behold sitting in my closet was your DVD set Swing Machine Golf plus your short game DVDs. I like Mike and Mike D too. There are many similarities with what I teach and differences too. I don't think Mike A. actually did it the way he said. If you watch his head it moves a lot going back. Using the lower is huge. This is the key yet the great majority are just trying to hit with the arms. Once you understand the concept and get used to some new feelings it is a whole new world. Stay focused on it. Oh yeah, keep watching my SMG videos. They are still in line with what I teach today (I just simplify it even more now).

Winter is the best time to practice. No ball means no distraction. Do practice swings working on positions and movements. Then you will have them when the season starts. If not, you will be working on all this stuff when really you should be playing great golf. 5-10 mins a day. You have a great start so lets do a little more work with no ball and you will see a huge improvement next season.

Hi Paul… firstly my index is going up not through bad play but the strikes are getting pure so all my yardages are out the window. On par 5’s I always play a 9I second shot no matter what 9 times out of 10 I have a low risk makable approach. Started to use easy swing 5W… now we are talking 54 or 60deg always tap in par or decent birdie opportunity. Love the drill: Sergio Garcia’s father strapped his hands to the club, I am thinking Velcro golf glove to take all the tension out to feel the centrifugal and centripetal force’s align for the “snap” you ask for. This tip will also get the legs working properly. It’s 01:11 feel like going into the garden and trying this now… brilliant Paul.

Thanks, Paul for your very useful inputs. I notice that you emphasize on firing the lower body especially the feet and hips. But what does the upper body do in the process? In the video, it seems that your upper body is also active. Is that so and what would you recommend.

It takes some time to learn to slow down. When I started a couple of weeks ago (building a completely new swing, the old one is still interfering) and finally got the arms mostly quiet I was walking out of my swing. That old "need for speed" subconscious process was still active. Even teed up some balls and the one I actually hit square went a long ways. The one. I couldn't consistently hit a ball. So slowed WAY down. Slow and smooth at first, turn later when one can stay in balance.

Yes, it is tricky due to human nature of us wanting more and more. I am fine with that. Just make the right choice. Fire the legs and hips a little harder don't hit harder. Don't go top speed though because you will blow it right. A little harder for a little more. Get used to it then do it again. Over time you will be killing it with an effortless swing.

@@paulwilsongolf Thanks for the reply. I find that closing my eyes and swinging speeds the process of getting the feel of this new method. The body loses most of the visual keys that seem to trigger the old muscle memory and of course, eyes closed one naturally works to stay in balance.

Very good. This is a great way to feel it. Once you have the ball in front of you go against human nature. I am not hitting anything. The ball is hit as you move from point A (backswing) to point B (follow through). Keep doing it until you forget you old swing.

Hi Paul... just been in the garden practicing this drill, it's brilliant and feels horrible which is a great sign. The only way I can get it to work is to leave all my weight on my left side (I am right handed). My sole now faces back to the target "just like the professionals." Would you just ignore any weight moving to the right until I start generating controlled club head speed. In my experience if I practice enough a natural weight transfer will slowly develop. Really hard to keep the arms, forearms, wrists and hands passive: it is 7deg and not wearing a glove. Brilliant Paul thanks a million.

Got do keep doing it until you feel the legs and hips powering the swing. You are going to coil and load to the back foot. Once there feel your legs and hips turning your body. Your arms are attached so they will move without thinking about it. Think baseball swings.

Hi Paul, am I meant to feel my right elbow dig into my right hip in transition? Dig in is a bit extreme; it's more of a resting feel before the club gets released. Should I be feeling this in the real swing? When I put tension in my arms that feeling is gone (and I presume the lag with it).

When u arms and club let it go when u initiate the downswing with hips?
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
You coil and set the top of your backswing. At that moment you fire the lower body first. Arms follow maintain the lag angle. Body keeps turning. As the hands get near the hip the angle cannot be held because mass (club) want to swing to it's widest point due to inertia. So it releases if the wrists are loose.

The only way you could get your shoulders level is to stand vertical. Who is telling you to do that? Not me. You are tilted because the ball is on the ground. If you are tilted why tilt more. Why not turn?
