Check out Nitecores HC68, it has a focused beam and a flood beam. You can also "blend" the two for best of both features. Just picked up the HC68 because I wanted a focused beam capability.

I would say this is much better in terms of overall specs! I would say it's worth it if you use it every night, but I would use your best judgment for how much use it would be as it is a more expensive headlamp!

@@NitecoreStoreThanks. I just bought it. You can always use an extra headlamp. Lol. Even tho the hc68 is a max 2000 lumen as well but the 65 uhe's efficiency run times at 2000 and 1300 lumens is what made me buy it. That and i'm a flashaholic 😜

@@Harry-vw9kri like them both. The main reason i bought the 65uhe was for the battery life. The 68 does 950 lumens for 2h30 min while the 65uhe does 1300 for 5 hrs. So its a big difference in efficiency. To be honest tho i just carried a couple extra charged batteries for my 68 and i never really needed them unless it was a multi day trip. I mainly bought the 65uhe just to hv it. I like headlamps and flash lights. Lol.

Ya I just had an older nitecore NU10 headlamp with both click tabs on the bracket broken off after it was sitting unused for a long time. Nitecore was of no help - said they're not available now. So yes that type of design needs a change so it can't fail (maybe metal) or is replaceable somehow; many options for that. Also needs a simple pad against the forehead. But the common rubber mount is really bad IMO, not sure how people tolerate those: they bounce and are impossible to adjust easily or quickly.

Yeah, it's also heavily dependent on the temperature tho. If it's colder you won't get as long of a runtime because it can sustain a higher brightness for longer.

Are you sure it has ACTIVE temperature control built in? Because I have already heard stories about the NU33 also having control and the power not decreasing. But unfortunately I bought it and the power of 700lm turns to about 330lm after EQUAL 6 minutes.​@@mikeenslin3009

​@@nachomolla1164Companies use various types of electronics. Sometimes the light output stabilizes, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the turbo mode has a timer and it ALWAYS runs the turbo for a certain amount of time. Some Nitecore flashlight model has maximum power for 10 SECONDS and then the power drops by several dozen percent. Other companies use ACTIVE temperature control and, for example, in winter the turbo will run for 120 seconds and in summer for 30 seconds. And in Olight or Nitecore flashlights it will always be, say, 30 seconds, regardless of the temperature. And the temperature sensor works so that we can turn on the turbo in a moment, or it will not turn on because it is too warm. Sometimes the same manufacturer uses a different type of controller. Sometimes it also artificially extends the working time regardless of the temperature. For example, at a power of 250lm, the flashlight may be on all the time because it does not heat up, and yet it will drop to a power of 100-150lm after an hour. But the operating time is stated as "in 250lm mode". And why is this done? Because manufacturer "A" gives the operating time, say, 10 hours in 250lm mode, and the other one gives 14 hours. The customer buys 14 hours because longer = better. But he doesn't know that after 45 minutes the power drops to 150lm, for example. Such manipulations are standard, regardless of the manufacturer. Therefore, if you want to buy a good flashlight and you are an informed customer, you should use goggles ;).

Another issue is the high mode - here again someone may think that this mode should be "permanent" and here again they will usually be surprised, because often the power also drops by even several dozen percent. And again I came across the Nitecore model, which reduces power by several dozen percent even in medium mode - in order to compare well with the competition in its technical data. You can throw this data into the trash - anyone can check it, so you don't have to send it - anyway, I provided the correct HIGH mode data. I have several dozen flashlights from well-known manufacturers and I have a lux meter, so don't tell me children's stories. I will write for people who have no idea about flashlights. An example of a 1000lm flashlight, 3000mAh battery. One manufacturer states the operating time is 1 hour, the second 2 hours, the third 4 hours, the fourth manufacturer 6 hours and the fifth 10 hours. So what is this about? Most people don't think about it, they will just buy the one that lasts the longest. To make things more fun, the flashlight that lasts the shortest is the highest quality because it has power STABILIZATION. And other flashlights reduce their power to 700, 500 or even 300lm after a minute or a few. Hence the "magic of technical data" as in the case of this headlamp.

​@@NitecoreStoreYou probably had math at school. So you know everything can be calculated. You have the "HIGHER" mode (new name) 1300lm - 5h. High 14h. Mir 100lm - 31h. So let's assume that 100lm keeps the power stable, because at this power it doesn't heat up. So it will shine at 200lm for 15.5 hours. So how on earth can 400lm shine for 14 hours?!?!?. It's a miracle that in this mode it also reduces power. And in EVERY higher mode it reduces power. These technical data make me laugh 🤣🤣. Human naivety knows no limits, just like knowledge of mathematics.
