I’ve been wanting to incorporate Hydrangeas in my yard for years. I can’t seem to do so,because of the past experiences I’ve had with them.(zone 8b,(clay soil) rainy summers/hot humid weather.After watch this video I sparked an interest and hope to gain courage to try once again. I have two in HUGE pots on my porch and they do well,but desire them everywhere in my landscaping.I adore them.Thanks for the gardening tips.

Hi Jenny. I grow two in containers & yes for sure the more sun the better. Here in my zone 7b if they get less then 6 they will not thrive. I also love pinky winky hydrangea.

I love all Hydrangeas, but I have to admit that Limelight is one of my favorites. Proven Winners also has the Let's Dance Diva which I have never seen in person (only pictures). How is the selection at your store ???

We have an extensive collection of PW hydrangeas. I planted ‘Diva’ in my garden last year and she already has buds on her - I’m so excited! A few of my other favorites are Firelight, Blue Jangles, and Little Quick Fire.

This is my second year April in New York was afraid to prune and cut back 1/3 but I did noe they look so small. I have trees and strawberry vanilla (plus a lot of other Hydrangeas) there cover with leaves but how long does it take (for the trees to start getting new branches?

This is the perfect size tree to replace the one that was cut down in our backyard. I just want a tall enough tree to have some coverage from our back door neighbors. Will this thrive in CO? I live in zone 5b area. During winter time, temperature here do go down to single digit. Once in while even below 0. Will it survive then? I would love to have 4 or 5 of them lined up by the fence and maybe 1 or 2 somewhere in the front yard as well. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
@GardeningwithCreekside
@GardeningwithCreekside 4 жыл бұрын
They should do just fine for you because they are hardy in zones 3-9, and since you’re a 5b you’ve got plenty of wiggle room. I say go for it!

I don’t know if you will respond because this is an older video. I just bought a tree and live in the middle of Kansas . The spot that I really want to put it is more like partial shade. I haven’t planted it yet. It’s so beautiful and was 125.00 so I don’t want to ruin it. What would you recommend.? Thank you!

I planted mine a few weeks ago and the leaves are turning yellow. What am I doing wrong? I live in NW Indiana how many times a week would u suggest I water them? Thank you!
@GardeningwithCreekside
@GardeningwithCreekside 4 жыл бұрын
It sounds like a water issue, either too much or too little. I know that sounds ambiguous but it’s hard for me to say exactly. How much you need to water depends on so many things - air temperature, rain levels, type of soil, etc. As a general rule of thumb, you want your soil moist. Not soaking wet and not bone dry. Also, how big was the hydrangea when you planted it? Typically a 3 gallon shrub will need a gallon of water per watering. Hope this helps some!

@GardeningwithCreekside

Lynn Case Hi Lynn, I would start with regular pruning in February cutting back no more than 1/3 back. Sometimes during the growing season I cut excessive bending flowers off.

When you say that little lime is exactly the same than limelight, I don't agree. Very disappointed in my three little lime that don't turn white but stay lime and then pinkish brown. In the video you can notice the difference. Thanks anyway.
