This is great Kiley! Thank you, so much for sharing your preferences with us. And that Magic Eraser trick is really cool! I have some of the things you mentioned. Arches paper, W&N watercolor and I prefer plates as well. I am just starting out so I don't have expensive brushes yet. I have a set from Zen that will suffice I until I improve, and some extra small ones and white ink and jelly roll, and white erasers. I also have those kind of pencils, though I am using a mechanical pencil atm. Also use mason jars. I haven't painted much. Will be more active as the summer fades. ... getting there... Lol as far as a favorite supplies.. idk yet.

I have the Neptune series round and as a beginner I like them. I do see the next brushes that are going on my wish list!❤️ thank you for going through all your favorites! I really love the Daniel Smith watercolor paints, the colors are so concentrated.

I have very similar supplies 😂 I do love the Silver Black Velvet brushes for detail and wet on wet. DS paints are gorgeous and I also have quite a few W&N and Schmincke paints.
@paintedwing2 жыл бұрын
Nice, I agree! I will have to try schmincke sometime

I have some of the same Princeton Neptune Brushes you have & I have a 3/4 “inch Princeton Neptune Square Wash Brush, along with Princeton Velvetouch 3/8 inch Filbert Grainer Brush for textures. I have mostly Winsor & Newton Cotman Paints and a few Daniel Smith. I used the Micron Pens, White Erasers, Gum Erasers, a Winsor & Newton set of Sketching Pencils, a Pentel Click 0.5 mm Mechanical Lead Pencil, and Hahnemuhle 100 % Cotton 140 lb. Watercolor Paper. I use Mason Jars for painting indoors and old cleaned out Large Prescription Bottles to hold my water outside unless I have my Pentel Waterbarrel Brush. I have got to add the Magic Eraser to my list of supplies to get next. Thanks for sharing this wonderful informational video with us.

I’m a beginner. I love the shapes I can get from the dagger for flowers and leaves
@paintedwing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I notice a lot of floral/botanical artists use it.

If you like granulating colours or just really textured ones you should try Kremer watercolours. I recently bought them so i'm still trying them, but jeez I'm in love with them. They are super super textured. I have set 1 + some paints and only with this one set you can create so much fun with mixes. I especially love their browns as caput mortuum, iron glimmer violet and others. And their cobalts are just wow. And with your blocks of Arches with the black sides, when you peel of the papers does the black glue stay on the sides of the paper? I had some block like that but this happened and I never wanted to use it again since it looked awful.

There is a slight black edge to the paper which i show in the video. I dont mind though because once I mat and frame them it gets covered

Thank you for all your tips and tricks! I have bought a similar sponge, must try it sometime. I looove the wolf that shows as "startingpicture". Do you have a tutorial of that one?
@paintedwing Жыл бұрын
No, I do not have one of that coyote. I have a tutorial of a wolf on my patreon though thanks!

better to spend money on cheaper plates and have them accidently break than spend a lot more money on ceramic palettes and have that break!

Love your plates…do you squeeze from the tube onto the plate…I’m thinking yes?

Yes I do

I noticed that you don't use masking fluid. I see by your style its not needed, but do you use it on other watercolor paintings, for instance portraits or landscapes?
@paintedwing2 жыл бұрын
I pretty much never use it..I also don't paint portraits or landscapes
