A good presentation on the TomTom ! Made it all quite clear. I watch the urban legends with interest since I found you all at the beginning of Covid . I stopped driving HGV’s many years ago ( before you were born ! ) but never lost my interest . I think I was born nearly 50 years too early as your blogs are very instructive ; something unheard of back in the mid 70’s . Keep up the good work !!

Cheers Luke, I Start my first proper class 2 Job on Monday (Multidrop for palletline) Ordered one of these based on a few reviews andl hearing that it has good support for multidrop awesome to see how easy it is, one less thing to worry about!

Yes I would, works quite well getting to the area you need, do a lot of work out in the countryside so being able to get a lat/long coordinates from a good address app and putting that in is good. It is just a sat nav so doesnt always get it right, but use your brain it wont cause any harm, @@awoodvine

I purchased a 8275 Pro with lifetime traffic and maps second hand for £200. Brilliant piece of kit. I installed tachometer and a lot of other truck apps I use. It can play movies and has Internet browser so I can google, cut and paste addresses into itself.

Can I just say, thank you for the Go Expert video. I just want to say, charge it up very well at first, at home. Then you will get a good volume, because when the batt is lo then the volume goes down but the sat nav still functions. Also link it to your smart phone by Bluetooth and then just update all the cities but it will do the whole world for you, so give it a lot of time to do this like all evening. After awhile it will flag up another extra update which turns out to be the Caribbean, so unless you are going there you can leave that one out - LOL. It's simple to do all this, and before 24 hrs is up you will be Expert.

Just waiting now for TomTom to add a live traffic chip with the new Satnav instead of having to use your phone data then I'd buy one. Not sure why they didn't do that in the first place.

@@detset406 ah that’s fair enough, I’m still confused on these as I’ve never used one. This model says only one year of speed camera updates. Does this mean after a year it will no longer alert me when I’m approaching a speed camera also, not sure if this model will let me see my texts and calls through the actual TomTom, any idea mate?

@@julianj4026 the 6250 that I currently use, came with lifetime live traffic and speed camera updates, I can also receive calls and texts through it. The one year of speed cameras means, after a year it will no longer update for you if you don't buy a new subscription to it, just another way of them to make more money Xd. Nowadays you can buy one with lifetime subscription (which is only like 10 years)

This new generation tomtom is doesn't have live traffic itself.You have to connect your phone data.Or wi fi and then you get live traffic and speed camera

I've just got one and when I try to use it without a planned route "free style" it does not zoom down tomthe road level like you show. It's more like Google maps I can drive off the map and it is always oriented North and is zoomed right out. I'm on the verge of sending it back.

I have got the Tom Tom and I am not happy yes you can do what you are saying put your route saying put your route saying they tell me tell me to go down some stupid bloody roads which you cannot get my waggon down sat nav waste of time Unless you read then but they are always wrong you are better getting the map book out yet in the map book out of your rucksack rucksack and seeing where you are going

Once the free speed camera trail runs out does this mean that speed cameras will no longer show up on the TomTom after a year or does it mean updates for new speed cameras will not happen? Really confused on this as I’ve never used a TomTom, also does this Tom Tom have the see texts and receive calls function the older models had?

It’s a shame it just shows a red line when planning instead of showing you a height or weight limit sign so you’re aware of why you can’t route that way

Hi Matthew, i bought one 2 days ago, and i had the same problem, i managed to fix it. If your phone is android, search Bluetooth tethering " in settings, then turn it on while Bluetooth is on and my driver app is open. You have to do this every time you disconnected from tomtom. Hope it helps

Tom Tom is terrible don’t buy that navigation !! I use to love TomTom and it was the best nav for me because of the simplicity and design of menu, but they really gone bad because they don’t have user support and they don’t listen to their customers, they really doesn’t care what you think ! On new models you need to pay for everything, and you need to have speed camera subscription, but that doesn’t matter because for example in Germany is forbbiden by law to use that option so you can’t see where the speeding camera is so you always getting tickets for speeding (for 5km/h over you get around 50-60€ and all over Germany for trucks max speed is 80km/h and nobody is driving 80km/h so you are always getting tickets which is crazy, German laws are crazy, they wanna ripp you and TomTom is letting them do it) so it is useless to have subscription for speed cameras at least for me and now because of that reason and many others i will change my navigation system to Garmin !! And so much more is bad with TomTom i don’t want to get into all of that ! TomTom is really bad and don’t buy it…i would reccomend Garmin it is much much better navigation and more professional…
