@@majazakariassenlarsen5603 1) make sure you do these steps on clean skin, so if you’re wearing makeup wash that off thoroughly first 2) I wash my face twice a day (only the infected area, so for me that would be around my jawline/chin) with a wash called Benzagel (it’s a 5% benzoyl peroxide wash- in the US theres a product called PanOxyl that’s basically the same thing- I’m from Canada so I can’t find it here). After that, ONLY at night I would follow it up with a 5% benzoyl peroxide spot treatment (I use the Neutrogena Rapid Clear Spot Gel 5% BP) I would put this all over the infected area as well, not just on individual spots. And follow it up with a moisturizer (I like the CeraVe one but really any gentle one will do). No other actives in the routine. Your skin will get pretty dry at first so take it slow! Maybe only do the wash at night if both morning and night is too much and go from there. This is the only way I’ve been able to completely get rid of all my hormonal acne. And remember consistency is KEY don’t stop after a few weeks of not seeing results... it takes a while. I would say a month you should see significant improvements. I still do this routine to this day even tho I have clear skin. Ive moved to doing the wash only at night to prevent my skin from drying out. None of the products are fancy and they’re all VERY affordable. For reference the kind of acne that I had was the kind that is under the skin. So red bumps that would take days to come up to the surface! Hope that helps!

I started using acnecide 5% gel cream last week every 2nd night to clear up hormonal acne along my jaw and a couple of spots on my neck. However, 2 days ago I woke up with itchy skin on my neck and this morning it turned into a red rash all over my neck, looks like hives. I'm going to take an anti histamine but why is advised against using on your neck? I'm going to persist for the recommended 4-8 weeks. I'll ease into it by washing it off for the first week and then going up to twice a week, but can't find any information on why you are to avoid the neck area, as that's where most of my breakouts are.

I have bp gel 5% and during Lockdown I used it and I would mix it with some other gel that was supposed to clear my skin and I would just apply it to my face without washing it first. I would leave it on for about 6 hours and then wash my face and let my face dry on its on own and not even apply moisturizer. I used many things then like the lemon and honey mask.It made my skin itch, dry, red, swollen and burn and then I stopped using it. Should I use the bp gel 5% again ? PS:I have oily skin and acne

There's nothing you can do. You'll have to experiment and see what other products work for you such that you only have to use BP 3 times a week or so. Try Youth to the People cleanser followed by the mandelic acid + BHA toner. Also it might not even be the benzoyl peroxide. It could be that the product you're using that contains the BP has stuff in it your face doesn't like.

I started using benzoyl peroxide two months ago. I'll be reaching my third-month mark in a week. A month after bpo, I started to have results and that was when I started to use alpha arbutin with ascorbic acid in the morning. I only used it because it's about to be expired in a month. 2 weeks after using aa+aa, I started to break out again. I stopped it immediately but even after a month the breaking out is still ongoing. The bpo doesn't seem to work anymore since I purged from vitamin c. I thought of adding adapalene to my routine, but I don't know how to incorporate it. It could be too irritating for my skin while I use bpo. should I completely stop bpo and incorporate it later on once my skin gets used to adapalene or can i start using adapalene while still using bpo?

Hello Dr. Sam! I need your help with skincare too. So I have oily, acne prone skin and since I turned 18 (21 now) I’ve been dealing with the nonstop breakouts usually around my cheeks and jawline area. I seldom get pimples on my forehead, but it does happen too. I’ve tried sooo many products and went to so many dermatologists in my country but none of them really help with creating a skincare routine. They just give prescriptions to drugs which haven’t really worked for me without a normal routine. I know the breakouts are not hormonal because I have been tested and also been on the birth control pills for the last 1.5 year. This year at the end of September, I went to yet another doctor, who prescribed me Epiduo. I promised myself to stick with it for at least 3 months so here I am. My current routine is very simple: AM: - I’m cleansing with La Roche Posay Effaclar Gel micro exfoliating cleanser with 2% salicylic acid and LHA. - I follow up with Curiosin gel, which is a medicine with zinc-hyaluronate formula to unclog my pores (I have big ones) and also to heal some blemishes (I have acne scars on my cheeks) - Sunscreen: Topicrem CALM+ soothing protective cream spf 50 PM: -I double cleanse, again using the same La Roche Posay cleanser, or if my skin is very irritated, I also use Avene Clearance cleansing gel - I follow up with Avene Clearance Hydra soothing cream - Epiduo on my problem areas I’ve been doing this for the last 2.5 months but my face is still breaking out. I’m not sure if this is still the purging period for Epiduo or if I’m doing something wrong with my routine. Is there anything I should change/ add? I live in the country Georgia and some of the products you talk about in your videos are not accessible here. I usually go for drugstore products because they can be found more often here and also because they’re cheaper. What do you think? Please help, any of the readers are welcome to help me too♥️

Hey I have exactly the same problem, since my teenage period I have had every single week new pimples popping up upon my chin and cheeks. I discovered: skin is oily out of itself. People with a fast metabolism, (which is verry healthy), are prone to have a oily skin FASTER than people who don't have fast metabolism. The oil within the skin, CLOGGES the pores. As a result of that, sweat dirt and other excess oils within the body can't find its way out. The result: clogged, dirty pores (combined with blackheads) with excess oils and dirt Within the body and on the surface of the skin. So the FIRST priority is to remove your skin oils and fast and as much as possible. Same way how you they dry up a flower and store it in a photo frame on the wall, you are now going to dry up your skin, do a treatment, and afterwards condition the skin to hydrate the skin. The oils are not hydrating your skin. Oils are a barrier, surface products. Remember: water based products actually are absorbed THROUGH the pores. The solution is absolutely simple once you know! : Ingredients like clay, (kaolin) absorb every little bit of oil and dirt. Use a clay mask or clay scrub every single day. 2 times would be the best. Once the oils have been removed, you are now free to use whatever you want, the pores are free to absorb. Use a salicylic based cleanser as well. Use serums which contains topical ingrediënts (research) like BHA, AHA, Glycolic and lactic acids, retinol, peptides.. Niaciamide It doesn't matter which brands you are using, all that matters are the ingrediënts! Before you go to bed use Benzoyl peroxide 10% cream on the effected areas. Keep it on the whole night When you wake up, scrub to remove the dead skin cells and repeat consistently the steps above and your face will shine like never before

I don’t think so. In the main it’s used daily until things are controlled by prevention with retinoids/azelaic acid. And then it’s just used on occasion blemishes when needed. So it’s potential for harm I think is very limited.

I'm actually not a big fan of the acnecide formula, I contacted galderma about it and they are NOT using micronized benzoyl peroxide! Which is such a shame! Because micronized benzoyl peroxide is not only less irritating but also more effective! The reason why it is much more widely available in the US is because it can be sold under a cosmetic brand from a cosmetic company unlike Europe where it has to come from pharmaceutical companies and you can't get it from a cosmetic brand. In my experience, the least irritating benzoyl peroxide is the proactiv pore targeting 2.5% treatment available in the US, in addition to benzoyl peroxide, it has a special delivery system that makes it less irritating. Though a major downside is that it is very expensive, it does have some fragrance but I can barely smell it

I'm a technological immigrant (I grew up before the Internet) so was pretty much alone in my quest for clear skin. I slathered on a 10% benzoyl peroxide thick as a mask nightly, and in the morning slapped on a 10% urea/5% lactic acid "body lotion". Aggressive? Yes, but exceedingly effective. The urea/lactic acid very effectively softened the crustiness caused by the benzoyl peroxide. I also had the occasional Jessie's peel from an octogenarian at an Elsa Hieronymus clinic. On my first visit she showed in a mirror how the comedons fled from my pores. She also prescribed two toners. The first had not only alcohol in it, but also acetone! The second was camphoreous. I wasn't scorned the way a client in the booth next to me was though. She had overdone the benzoyl peroxide to the extent that the jessner's peel wouldn't take. Her skin was too fried. It took me months to even get an appointment. "My waiting list is long..." I don't need those treatments now, but both me and my sister sometimes dream of booking appointments.
