Two of our favourite American 'National' songs: The Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful for #thanksgiving 2023!

Thks Richard & Caroline for the beautiful renditions of these 2 songs. Caroline, you put many other singers to shame who sing at events where US nat'l anthem is played. These are asked to sing because of who they are. If anybody in US is reading this pls get Caroline to US to sing the anthem properly.

Thanks to you and Caroline for your great renditions of our national anthem and America the Beautiful. Growing up in the Methodist Church, the two hymns I remember most vividly associated with Thanksgiving are “We Gather Together” sung to the tune Kremser and “Come, Ye Thankful People, Come” sung to the tune St. George’s Windsor. I think the tune and text of the latter are of English origin. I’d love to hear those two if you do another Thanksgiving spot. Even on my church’s tiny George Kilgen & Son pipe organ, St. George’s Windsor always thrilled me…never cared about the words…the chord progressions would take my breath away. I’ll bet it would sound amazing in the hands of a talent like yours on a large English cathedral organ.

As a Brit., this is the first time in my 70 + years that I have ever seen the words of these well-known American National Hymns clearly written down. Now I finally have the words that no doubt ALL Americans know off by heart from childhood. Maybe there is something wrong with the UK education system given the numerous American TV programmes and movies we were all brought up with.
