Love the fact that you have Gränsfors axes. I have two myself for camping and some wood splitting and I absolutely love them.

The ax at approximately the 15 minute mark is really cool it looks like something that ancient Viking warriors would have taken in battle ! 😊

Thank you very much for this video. One of my favorite things is to hear someone talk about their tools, and I've been fortunate enough to get to handle some good ones, and you know immediately when one feels good and does a great job at what it is intended for. I love how tools have sometimes very similar uses, and you can pick the one you best prefer. And watching an expert make tools is such a thrill--maybe I'm a weird lady, but I ever tire of it. I used to spend time working with my dad's carpentry tools, and loved them as much as he did. I have my own tools, for my own hobbies, and can bore the socks off anyone who isn't into them. My scissors alone...I have what seems a redundancy of different types, but I know which one works best for certain fabrics, paper, cutting hair, kitchen use, embroidery, etc. Tools are a true joy.

I used to teach a blacksmithing class, for several years, called "Know your fire." So I am very excited to see you build your forge. One suggestion, don't skimp on your anvil. It's the one tool you can't make your self. And the bigger your anvil the less work you have to do. I know moving such a thing, to your property, is difficult at best. However, If you can, try not to settle for less than 300 lbs / 136 kg. Also a post vice. The tongs, hammers, Hardys, punches, files, swedge blocks, etc. will come with time. Plus you can make a lot of them your self. Fun projects. You are going to have so much fun in that shop. I can't wait to watch.

I took an axe making class from Toronto Blacksmith last year. Birthday gift from my wife. It was a great experience, and he was super knowledgeable. But man it was hard work. It kicked my ass. Found his class after watching one of your videos, so it ended up being a great recommendation. So thanks to you both!

I did not know that there were different axes for different purposes. I learn a lot about axes, weight and shapes. Great video.

put black cloth type hockey tape only jus the length of that leather axe guard that keeps slipping down not to thick about 2 wraps thick jus shy of the end of guard if you dont wish to see the tape then tighten yer axe guard again prob over ....worked super good on my hultafors with castrom axe guard ....awsome vids axes are up my ally as fav tools
