Nothing they have is top-quality imo. They're just leading because they have money and marketing, not because of quality, which is obviously still high... because they have the budget.

@@TheUnderscore_ Quality? What are you smoking? The dedicated plugin is the best there is. It runs circles around Kontakt and anything like it. It’s faster, cleaner and more efficient. As for the sound: Spitfire has a bloated catalogue of mostly harmonic noise and the most misinforming pretentious marketing in the industry but their orchestral-specific libraries are top-notch. Woodwinds in particular. I do dislike their love for added splashy reverb (even on dry mics and studio spaces)

@@minder01 I'm not sure why the "dedicated plugin," which I assume you mean their sampler, was brought up, but even excluding the problems from my usage of it, is definitely not the best there is just by checking user complaints. I don't know about efficiency, but when it comes to functionality, it breaks... _a lot._ Of course, I _am_ glad that companies are starting to break away from Kontakt, as Kontakt as a whole is essentially a big scam. Take any of Spitfire's libraries, and there's gonna be a better one from another company. Obviously there are some caveats in terms of colour difference in using different libraries and of course costs, but if cost and all-around-ness is so important, East West would be better, coming in at less than half the price when *both* companies are on sale. I never said Spitfire was low quality. On the contrary, I said they had high-quality libraries (read my reply again), but they're never the "best," which is admittedly a subjective description. Heck, I originally wanted to buy BBC SO Pro but changed my mind at the last second. But the fact remains that many of the libraries they make are simple money grabs. Take two examples: Abbey Road Metal Percussion was a waste of time when BBC SO is still unfinished. Appassionata was a waste of time when L&S Chamber Strings, CSS, and all other chamber libraries already exist; competition is great, but not when the new competition is lower quality. Of course, the list goes on, and you can ask for more examples if you'd like, but I'm sure you can find your own examples on your own time. I'm not saying Spitfire should stop making libraries (as if they would ever stop anyway), but they don't put their all into their libraries. They release "good enough," maybe make some updates, then profit. But hey, we get LABS at least.
