Can you please do the real measurement of RDC90 vs Hall? Like linearity, noise, precision etc.? There's so much confusion around the premium RDC90 and you are the right person to solve this ;)

I have been trying out the Jumper T20, and think the balance on lanyard is intentional for ergonomics. When you fly your hands tend to push your against the radio, and because the gimbals are at the top of the radio, it cantilevers and pulls against the lanyard to keep the face of the radio facing slightly towards you to keep you wrist comfortable. Similar to the way keyboards are angled sligtly facing the user.

I perfectly understand why you are abandoning TX16S, I did the same. What I am missing is comparison to Boxer, which is now my daily driver and I don't see it inferior to Jumper T20S.

Unrelated question: with longer screws of course, could I swap my ultralight arms for standard ones to use bigger motors or would I need a whole other frame? Or file the space out. Just thought of that one.

Just got this today, and changed to the clear case. Almost as easy as working on a Radiomaster radio. Just that some of the wiring inside of T20 are a little thin, but generally pretty solid, and easy enough to swap out gimbals in the future. I switched from mini gimbals on X lite Pro to this, and because of the large gimbal resolution, it feels more comfortable and less cramped for my fingers when compared to the Frsky X Lite Pro. I always wondered why alot of pilots use those honking Boxer, T16s radios with the full sized gimbals. I know why now, more resolution, and less cramp in fingers whilst flying.

I moved from an xlite S with boxer to Boxer with elrs after crossfire failed me while filming on set. But I feel like I'm not totally satisfied with the ergonomics of the boxer. It's so big and heavy despite everyone calling it so small. Have you held a boxer? Ever since seeing the t20 I'm very interseted in trying it out as I imagine it will be far more comfortable than the boxer while still having the big gimbals. (I considered going back to a small gimbal radio but decided I want the resolution)

How do you think a Tango 2 user would like this Radio? I like the size of it, i like the gimbals, and i like the 1W internal ELRS already for that option. I really love my Tango 2 but its no longer working properly anymore so im looking to replace it as my main radio with something newer, but similar in size. Im using my Frsky Q X7 w/ ELRS right now and its okay but i really dont like the sticks and i dont like how far you have to push them to go full travel and get the input im used to with the smaller gimbals on the Tango2. I can get used to that but the radio is too big, wide, and bulky for me to want to use for my Drones anymore.. I know the obvious answer would be the Jumper T-Pro 1W ELRS Radio. But ive heard they have Q.C. issues and that people have issues with them breaking or wearing out super quickly. Plus the quality seems like a step down in general, from the Tango2, and i dont want to get stuck with a controller that might not last more than a year. I also have an external ELRS module so i can really pick any radio with a module bay. Internal ELRS would for sure be nicer but not necessary for compromises. The Jumper T20S seems to be about the same width as the Tango 2 and only 20mm taller. So it should feel similiar in the hands, as far as size goes and how far away the gimbals are, and hopefully how light it is.. The reason i bring this up is because i really also like the look and Form factor of the TBS Mambo as well with the ELRS module in it. It seems like a very nice quality radio with upgradeable gimbals and a nice size, but with nice advantage over the Tango2 & T-Pro, like the T20S has, which is more switches to be able to use and assign to things. The Tango2 doesnt have much but its not too bad when you set the push buttons up properly to make use of them for stuff you only use here and there basically and scroll thru them. What do you recommend i look into besides the Jumper T-20S? Maybe something from RM like the Zorro. IDK how good thats supposed to be but it looks like it would work well and has extra switches, and it has good revies. Im just not crazy about the way it looks but its not a deal breaker ...

Good luck with your Jumper T20S, Chris! In my experience, Jumper makes unreliable radios, such as my defective T12/T12 Pro. Randomly gives rapid and sudden ghost stick commands(looking at the channel monitor, it is giving stick commands even when the sticks are not moved). Thought it was bad potentiometers, so bought the new-at-the-time hall sensor gimbals, but same issue. Jumper sent a replacement set of gimbals, same problem. Upgraded to the T12 V2/Pro with the new mainboard inside. Same problem. Broke a bunch of quads, and wasted a ton of time trying to chase down the reason (blackboxing to test for bad gyro, checking ESC desyncs, etc.). Only to one day see the channel monitor on the small screen jumping around, while the radio was sitting on the bench. Can't trust Jumper radios. That's probably why when Radiomaster brokeoff and made their own, starting with Jumper clones, they did better... because they didn't have these defects (barring the weak plastic scroll wheel in the first TX16).
@tomverlaine728

Check those hall effect sensors for dust, multiple radios have done that for me. Blow area with compressed air, swipe some alcohol along the magnet and sensor, deflecting the sticks as you do, then calibrate again. Your case might be different, there's always a chance any product can be faulty from the factory, no matter the brand. Been using the t-lite for 2 years daily.
@TweakRacer
@TweakRacer 10 ай бұрын
@@tomverlaine728 Good advice, but I had done that and still had the issues. Maybe poor PCB design, like stray RF/EMI interference or poor ground/reference plane design... I don't know. Also, no amount of polishing the plastic parts/surfaces (and metal bar for the throttle), tweaking the springs/perches, applying various plastic-safe lubes (or using teflon tape on the throttle slider), cleaning/lubing the gimbal ball bearings... led to smooth sticks. Constant stick-slip and creaking. Garbage, toy-quality gimbals.

Reliability is key. I've been happy with the RDC90 gimbals in the T20S so far which aren't hall effect. If I have any issues I'll be sure to create a follow up video.
@TweakRacer
@TweakRacer 10 ай бұрын
@@ChrisRosserThe problem is NOT just the hall effect gimbals. Though, most of the pilots will likely opt for the cheaper hall effect version of the T20S anyways. My reliability issue appeared to be the crappy gimbals but it was not. Even upgrading to the Pro version with the new mainboard did not help. The issue is way deeper than the gimbals. Your RDC90 gimbals are sourced from a reputable vendor. So even if the gimbals are fine and smooth, there may still be deeper reliability issues.

Love this radio's form factor and I tried so hard to like it but after first two weeks its power chip failed. Had to wait 2 weeks to get a replacement from China to get it operating again. Then, two weeks later I get out to fly and turn it on and it flashes a couple times and goes dim. Now won't turn on and can plug it in via USB or even charge it. This thing has SERIOUS quality and QC problems. I've gone over 15 years with many of my previous radios without a problem like this. It's unheard of to have this many serious issues, even with a $100 radio. If you value your time and money, look elsewhere for a nice compact radio. I wish another company picks up on this form factor and ability to incorporate the crossfire TX, etc. So many awesome features but so poorly executed.

dont buy jumper bad QC bad Internal design. Had same problem as you with original jumper t16 t18. This t20s has bad design interantally with gimbal gyros pressing up on connectors and the top swittches pressing on each other leading to broken solder joints. Radio ergo design is good no doubt but internals and QC are trash as usuall. Jumper also have the best centering on thier gimbals when using light springs. just wish they were a more reliable company

Chris, Joshua Bardwell reviewed this radio as well and noted that the charging USB for the batteries inside is a slow charging port. Is this going to affect your use as a daily driver or do you normally just take your batteries out of the radio to charge?
@ChrisRosser
@ChrisRosser 10 ай бұрын
I normally charge overnight and find my 5000mAh radio batteries last forever (I don't use any hungry external modules or 1W output all the time). If I need to fast charge I always take the batteries out. No USB port can match up to a proper LiPo charger.

you get more penetration, the lower the freq the higher the penetration, 5.8 have less penetration actually line of sight almost only.... with 900mhz you can go behind trees or heavy bushes and still have a signal, and yes, less interference from WIFI, also back in the days of the motor LOS planes, they have used 72 mhz radio link, wayyyy lower than 900mhz but at that time there was no FPV, just line of sight.
