Hi, I’m Rebecca, a knitter based in Toronto, Canada. This is the second part of my two-part series chatting about and reflecting on my past summer knits ☺️☀️
In this video, we will chat about tops that I have knit and worn a ton since I cast them off (there aren’t many but I genuinely love these knits sooo much!). I also wanted to chat about how I will be approaching warm weather knitting in the future including silhouettes, yarn, needle size and finished fabric. Let the summer knittign begin!

I'm making the Cumulus top now and can't wait to finish. The Pi camisole has been in my Ravelry favorites and after seeing yours, it has moved to the top of the list-yours is beautiful.

Always amazed at how you can do these podcasts in one take and not repeat yourself or fumble your words! Also for someone who's not into v-necks, I love boatneck or straight(?) neckline across for my garments. Crew necks are classic but sometimes, they can feel stuffy or not 'unique' enough. With that, I can recommend Thelma by Erika Knight for your keyhole top! I haven't tried it but it's been in my favorite for a little while.

As a newer knitter, it is so helpful to hear how you think about yarns and patterns and how they work for you. It helps me to be more discerning (when I want to buy every beautiful yarn and interesting pattern). So, thank you! ❤

Totally relate on the summer knits. I have made quite a lot but very few have actually worked out. The cumulus is also one of the only tops I’ve made where I am actually working up another. It’s the perfect fit and weight and works nice as a transition piece. We’ll be matching as I am also making my 2nd in putty! Curious what your thoughts will be on the onling yarn. They are also high on my list to try

I loved the first black one, I never see anything from you that I dont like but we are our own worst critics. You may really resonate with a Mock Turtle neck style with a cut out sleeve and a Boat Neck would be another style. Possible your v necks would be more appealing to you with a cute little kerchief or scarf around the neck, those are very much on trend too. Happy knitting.

I love my Pi Camisole out of KfO Cotton Merino. It is definitely one of my favorite knits and i realise i like the finer gauge as well. It is all my heavier summer knits that have languished and looked less polished and not worn. I knit the Cumulus Tee out of KfO Pure Silk and although it was a slog of a knit, I love the FO and could totally see myself making another one, now it has been a while since i finished my last one. I'd definitely make the Pi camisole again also - a fun knit as well. Your Pi and Cumulus look beautiful. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me to make them again. :)

Thanks, Rebecca! It's great to see you gaining clarity on what projects you want to take on in the future and what your priorities are with summer knitted garments. I also figured out that I strongly prefer fingering and sport-weight garments during the summer (and most of the year because I live in Southern California!). My favorite yarns are the KFO pure silk, the Queensland Collection Coastal Cotton Fine, and I love some of the hand-dyed summer yarn bases that brands like Sunday Fibre Co, Pasley Knits, and Cosy Posy fibers are putting out this year!

Tori Yu currently has a City Top/Dress in testing that might be up your alley! It's fingering weight, high neckline, strappy, negative ease. I just finished the Weekday Tee by Aimee Sher using a cotton/alpaca fingering weight yarn by Purl Soho called Sweetgrass and they're all neutral (I believe undyed too). I think I wouldn't use it for a negative ease garment because I'm not sure of its ability to bounce back like wool does but I do love the drapey airy fabric which is why I used it for a garment with a little positive ease. That being said, since I just finished, I can't tell you how it wears yet! I knit the main fabric on US3/3.25mm. Thanks for sharing Rebecca! I enjoy your reflection/analysis of your process, wear, yarn choices. Thank you!~Stephanie

I really enjoyed listening to your reflections on yarns, patterns and wearability, thank you! I am knitting Sari Nordland’s Sunset camisole in a pure linen, but not the one she used. I’m enjoying the process and don’t find the linen hard on my hands. Happy travels to you!

I would say check out the Tolsta Tank because it has a lot of neckline options that are higher. I like when makers reflect on their makes to look make better choices moving forward so I appreciate you doing this!

Rebecca, I really enjoyed your summer top episode! I've been testing quite a few summer patterns over the last couple of months & one in particular that i think you'd like. The Sunrise top by Elina Maaria is a beautiful tank top with a really interesting technique for the neckline. I've tested for her before & she has a way of explaining advanced techniques in a very simple & approachable way. I made my tank top in a cotton gradient, which turned out very well.

Great video, Rebecca. Always nice to determine exactly what one likes and not likes about one’s finished garments. Thanks for reminding me that Petite Knit released an O-neck version of her Cumulus Tee pattern; I, too, do not prefer v-neck tops. As for summer-weight yarns, I am loving Lion Brand Coboo - not a fingering weight, though. I’ve also been alerted to Rowan cotton cashmere, which intrigues me. Just a note: the Sandes Garn linen blend yarn is pronounced LEE-neh

Milena Paulina is currently in the process of “cooking” a new pattern with the keyhole neckline. She is planning to start testing soon and this top will be with a bit bigger gauge, so it should be pretty quick to knit 😻

I am currently knitting the twist loop top by other loops which is super fun! I also have plans for a papyrus top by ullen knitwear, which is a mockneck sleeveless top. Word of warning about the KfO silk: it's a gorgeous yarn but stretches a lot with wear so don't use it for anything form-fitting!

I haven't tried it yet as I'm deciding which one - but for one-shoulder knits, there is the "seeyouinparistop" (Ann Kathrin) and the "lost one shoulder" (friday knits)

I loved your Pi camisole so much I bought the pattern even though I’m not a confident knitter and some people rate it as,pretty difficult. The instructions seem pretty clearly written though, except for one thing. The first and last stitches of the rows are edge stitches but I don’t see where it states what the edge stitches consist of! I assume it’s garter. Would you kindly confirm this for me? The designer hadn’t replied to either of my emails. Thanks for the video, inspiration, and musings.
