The key to successfully teaching your child about big emotions and self-regulation is to spend lots of time solidifying the concepts through normalizing the conversation about emotions, repetition and play-based learning activities. It is in these moments that your child will have been given the life-long gift of emotional intelligence.
Plus we are SO excited to start integrating SPANISH into our preschool units with the help of #HabbiHabbi, a phenomenal bilingual book program designed to make bilingual books and education to children more accessible, engaging, and FUN! While this is technically an #ad, we honestly love their books! We have personally LOVED having Habbi Habbi books in our "casa" and are already seeing the benefits of exposing our children to a second language! THANK YOU Habbi Habbi for partnering with us today for this video!
Each day we engage in 3 strategically planned activities to introduce the big ideas related to your child’s understanding of their feelings. Over the course of the two week unit you’ll find:
▶ 10 literacy-based activities
▶ 10 math-based activities
▶ 10 open-ended art, fine-motor and scientific activities
A total of 30 thoughtfully planned activities that are both purposeful and playful AND at the same time, literacy and math concepts are introduced in every activity as research shows that early exposure is predicative of later academic success! It's the perfect blend of meaningful, play-based learning!
We are just on the final stretch of getting the curriculum formatted on our new site and will be available May 16th! 🤩

What motivates me,is seeing my child being happy and not sad,by me helping her to deal with her emotional intelligence, she would not isolate herself from everyone and will be able to express her feeling.

My childhood was full of adults who did not handle their emotions in a healthy way and as an adult I'm still picking up the pieces with God's help. My motivation is to see my kids not be slowed down in their personal relationships and in life endeavors because they're having to heal-->So they can be whole and well adjusted from the start! That's my dream! Thank you for your content!

I want to introduce dealing with big emotions to my children because I want them to have the capability to deal with all the things that happen in life. I want them to be emotionally ready so they can make the best decisions for themselves in any moment. I also feel it gives you a better sense of self to be emotionally intune. Thats what I've learned along the way looking inwardly at myself as i am teaching it to my oldest so far. Learning, even as a parent!

My emotions were suppressed as a child which lead to borderline personality disorder. It’s a treatable disorder so I am learning so much to break the generational trauma. So happy to see my child express his feelings even at 1 year old!

My motivation- Toddler twins...need I say more 😄 Their 3rd birthday is on your drawing day 5/20 so fingers crossed for this emotional mama. Beyond multiple toddlers, my motivation to learn as much as I can about EI so I can do my best to break my own generational cycles of unhealthy coping mechanisms for handling big feelings by guiding my girls to know that all feelings are OK. And through helping them learn to manage their feelings, it will also help me & other adults in their life to manage our own emotions too. One of my daughters is really sensitive and started avoiding any books where she knows a character is going to be really sad or really angry. I'm hopeful through focusing on all the emotions she'll learn to feel all her emotions including sadness. Your units are always amazing & can't wait for this one! Thank you for spending so much time and energy on all the details in them- it is genuinely appreciated!

My motivation in teaching my little guy about emotional intelligence is to see him (hopefully someday) being able to feel his feelings without being ashamed of them, name his emotions, recognize them, and being able to ask for help. Know that he has a safe space to work through them 🥰 and that a strong man is a man that isn’t scared to show his feelings either 😊

👏 well done! I love the variety of activities and and incorporating literacy and math. I cannot wait to use these ideas with my 4 year old, 1 year old, and my kindergarten class as well!! What motivates me is seeing my toddler being more successful as he is given tools to help him through his big emotions. In my kindergarten classroom, it helps me to explain why other students are behaving in a certain way. We can label the emotion, and work towards a regulation tool. There is so much to learn about helping Littles manage their emotions, I am always open for more ideas.

Thank you for sharing this. What motivates me to help my 2.5 yr old boy to know and express his emotions is I would like him to be able to communicate better so he can also feel and behave better. I know starting early can go a long way up till he is a teenager and adult.

Thank you for this video and the last two about Emotional intelligence. They couldn't have come at a better time with our 2 1/2 year old having more and more lively tantrums. Your videos resonated so much with me. For me, it was always important to teach our kids Emotional intelligence. Motivated is that wish by the feeling that I learned these concepts far too late in life and I am sure, it could have helped me so much throughout my childhood. So I was looking for material for a while now on how to best approach the topic with our toddler. But beyond books, I had the feeling most material is too overwhelming and complex - it's one of the reasons why I was originally not intending to set up a calming corner as most just seem too overwhelming and crowded with information and choices for the age range to me. Then just during the worst phase of dealing with these intense toddler tantrums, you release these videos that are just exactly what I have been hoping to find. So thank you so much for these recources - I am currently working on setting up a calming corner and am looking so forward to introducing these activities to our daughter. Interestingly, trying to teach our daughter about emotional intelligence, mindfulness and calming strategies, makes me a more patient and calmer mother. So I would say that is definitely additional motivation to establish healthy habits and make sure that we integrate these concepts in our life to raise confident and resilient kids. Of topic, congratulations regarding your joyous news ;-)

what motivates me is to teach my daughter how to self-regulate but that starts with identifying the emotions and being able to provide coping skills that help her calm down at this age, she's three. But all starts with identifying the emotion and naming it so that way they can understand it better

I’m motivated to teach my son how to learn about his emotions because my parents never really did that with me. I’m hoping that the emotional intelligence at a younger age will help him be a better person, caring, compassionate, and loving.

Thank you so much for this video.. I enjoyed it and I can't wait to do these activities with my kiddo! I'm motivated to teach my children about their big emotions and how to express themselves because someday it will help them to have healthy relationship with us, their future spouse, friends, and family. Happy Sunday!!

Thank you so much for this great video and amazing content as always Kayleigh 🥰 What motivates me is that I think I never really received such education on emotional intelligence and I struggled a big part of my life with my own emotions. Now that I managed to get the proper tools and abilities to deal with my big feelings, I see how important it is not to try to suppress them. I want to show my children how to do so from an early age for them to thrive with their well-being and emotional intelligence but I'm not sure how to do that because I didn't really get a role model for that 🙂 I love the way the new curriculum looks and I can't wait to test it! Well done and great job the Carnahan family 💛👏

We're still isolating (here there be plague), so our boys don't get much socialization. It's important we teach them about emotions because they don't see them beyond our household.

I actually already bought the boards just need to go print them. When will this curriculum be out on your site. But i started teacher her about feelings because I can potentially over share and my husband doesn’t share enough haha so I wanted to make sure she has a level totem of feelings not over or under feel and share.

My motivation to teaching my kids about all feelings is for them to not experience the “Emotional Rollercoaster”🎢 (creating long term anxiety). And another important reason for me, is for them to pass on what they have learn to other around them as well as their future families. Thank you for your hard work Carnahan! ☺️
