People may see her as an ugly duckling. But she is actually a swan. But I guess we all have trouble loving someone who looks different from everyone else. And it's not fun when someone judge you just because of how you look, or what your struggles are. If there were more people who cared about a person for who they are on the inside, than outside, the world would be a great place. But the reality is....that's not true.

@@thomasjoseph5876 If that were the case then that would make you a heartless person then. If you truly loved her then you'd feel bad regardless of her looks. Unless she did something awful to you then in that case I'd have to agree. But not on the fact that because she's in your own words "ugly" that you should feel less bad after a break up.

Just because Mary isn't a true beauty doesn't mean this sweethearted guy's parents have a right to think of her as their family's embarassment because nobody's extremely perfect... I'm happy to know Mary's fiance turned out to be such a sweet and decent guy and he has my respect ☺

I totally agree and have experienced such several times throughout my life. The first time it was decades ago at my work place in a Bank. A lady was hired for a temporary position in our team. She was always smiley and agreeable but appeared to be so ugly, poor woman. We exchanged this remark with another coworker, not to be mean, we were only full of empathy. However the days and weeks passed by, and we were beginning to see her more and more beautiful. Her amazingly beautiful personality and immense kindness put us under her spell. This was a memorable life lesson for me, as I had still life to learn (19). During my life I have met a few people who were truelly handsome, however I began to feel un totally attracted and immune to their looks as their ugly soul began to show and hurt me. Whereas I met a man who seems "ugly" (I feel guilty saying this) but such an immense kindness and such a stable, and beautiful soul emanates from him, he seems less and less ugly each time I see him. Had it not been for these experiences, I wouldn't be able to believe nor understand what is being said in this story.

His parents should be very ashame of themselves for how they have treated their son's fiancee/wife Mary all because she's ugly to them and should have remember back when they were once their son's age that his father wasn't always handsome as he used to have pimples and weird hairstyle. The important lesson from all this is that you should get to know the real person on the inside rather judge their appearence whether they're ugly or beautiful because you will missed out why this person love him/her in the first place.

Plus cosmetic surgery can easily backfire on you especially if it's not medically necessary. Just leave your face the way it is. We all get old so it wouldn't really matter how we look anyway.
