My dad used to say, "the definition of a successful person is one who'll do what the unsuccessful person won't do," And that simply means, just what you said in your video: do the extra work when no one else is. Your life experience is valuable for people who are trying new things - not just getting out of prison - and striving even when the world says, "no." Praying for your continued success, sir.

Currently at a halfway house and have I been through so much. From getting violated the first week over a misunderstanding to waiting 3 weeks to get my job approved which I already had an offer letter. I’ve got about 2 more weeks and I’m out of the halfway house and into probation. I’ve been out since Feb 1 of this year…one good thing while at the halfway house was I received news from my attorney of a reduction of sentence through amendment 821. I had a release plan I did with Michael Santos before going to the FPC and wow did it help. Oh and I’m currently on HD now.

Can you go to a halfway with a court date in the near future pending? No warrants pending just a court date.

100% spot on Justin. I was at Volunteers of America (LOL) halfway house in Baltimore. The train was late from my prison camp location so I was calling and calling so they wouldn't call out the marshals. But you are so correct. I started working in the kitchen just because that was what I was used to but then once I got serious about employment and found a job life go so, so much easier.

I love hearing from you. Hope you’re well. I’ll never forget that anxiety of wanting to get to the halfway house on time. My family kept asking me. “Why are you looking at your watch so much, you have three hours!” I’m like I don’t wanna be late!!

An honest assessment of the path that one travails as they maneuver through our federal corrections system warts and all laying it on the line. Hitting rock bottom oddly has it’s own unique appeal and it suddenly dawns on you that there is no where to go but up. Things can only get better. Very inspiring review of your half way house experience.

He did but you still need a plan that fits your circumstances and then I believe the universe (or God) whichever you choose will work with you. There will always be good and bad days…in every life. The secret is choosing to get bitter or get better…that’s always our choice. Best wishes.

There are so many good people in prison. Justine, you are one of them and through it all you were able to hold your head up high. I commend you, sir. I have assisted a few in halfway houses by providing jobs. I wish that others listening to Justin and others like him will lend a hand to these struggling former inmates.

Justin, You did things “right,” using your time in prison and in the halfway house focused on turning your life around, etc. What percentage of white collar criminals do this, that is, from day one focus on how to do life better?

Thank you. I think most do. I really do. The problem is so many people work hard and don’t properly document it so cynical stakeholders don’t believe the work was actually done. I was obsessed with documenting my progress, including mistakes that I was making. The more authentic I became the more successful I became.

I’m glad you had the unwavering support of your parents. Words cannot describe or express the value of that love. I hope, in upcoming videos you can recommend strategies for people without that love and support. They have to go out, find and create that support. It’s not just the money, but that is part of it. You were not a child during those years. You technically had no “right” to ask or even expect it. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)

@@sanjosemike3137 I was and remain fortunate. Even at 49, my dad still calls, “son you need anything?” And he always tells me he loves me and is proud of me. Many people are not as fortunate. Thanks for feedback.

How long does one have to get from the federal prison to the halfway house? For example, from FPC Montgomery (Montgomery, AL) to halfway house in Lubbock (Lubbock, TX). Do they figure the time frame based upon how long a Greyhound bus ride is?

If you have a place to go after prison , why do you have to go to a halfway house? I mean a job and a place to stay.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE AN OUT TO THE STREET ADDRESS AND THE PROBATION OFFICE WON'T CUT YOU LOOSE? CAN THEY KEEP YOU AS A POLITICAL PRISONER?
