To us 90’s kids The Mummy was like our Indiana Jones. And the spin-off cartoon on Kids WB was just as amazing. Also Rachel Weisz as Evie was one of my first crushes ever. Seriously, the scene of when she shows up in the black Egyptian clothing with the veil still takes my breath away😍😍. And the fact that she is a bookish nerd who becomes a badass bookish nerd in the next movie is why she is one of my favorite female protagonists.

Side note: in the "hanging" scene, there was a miscalculation and Fraser actually started hanging! It was one of his more traumatic incidents. And remember, Winston WANTED to die while flying, to join his old RAF buddies. This movie is very campy, but at the same time quite an adventure. I've lost count of how many times I've enjoyed it, glad you finally had the opportunity as well!

10:10 - Camels are adapted to desert climates to a flabbergasting extent. Camels have pads on their feet spread out while walking which keeps them from sinking into sand a as much as something like a horse's hooves. Also, they're not as fast as race horses, but they can be fast when they need to be. If you have the option of taking a horse or a camel into a desert, you take the camel. *EVERY* time. No matter what.

Loved this reaction Alyska!! Yeah, it was perfectly alright to laugh throughout this one. This was more an action-adventure comedy, and intentionally done so. You just don’t see many quality action adventure campy sort of films anymore, so classics like this are a treasure. And yes Mummy II is another quality sequel, done in the same vein as the first, so that one I would certainly recommend. Thank you for watching it!

It definitely feels like one of those old-fashioned B-movies, so the silly campy tone was definitely intentional, and a key part of its appeal. That goofy old-fashioned swashbuckling feel, along with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz's wonderful chemistry, really carries both this film and the sequel, and losing both of those aspects is why the third film was so disappointing

I remember before this came out, the trailers made it look like a straight up horror/slasher film, like "Friday the 13th" but with mummies. Then when I actually saw it I was surprised at how different the tone of the movie is, more of a light-hearted adventure thriller with a few dark elements, in line with Indiana Jones films. Not a bad thing of course, I ended up enjoying it anyway.

This mummy is infinitely better then the one with Tom Cruise. Don’t get me wrong Tom Cruises mummy movie had potential, being the first of the new franchise in recreating the Hollywood monsters, but it was just too much action and adventure instead of horror and suspense. And camels evolved to run in desert sand. Their toes spread out to create more surface area so they don't sink, giving them better traction. Horses hooves tend to sink into the sand. Watch behind horses when they run in the sand and notice how much sand is thrown back, compared to camels.

Roger Ebert’s review of The Mummy: There is hardly a thing I can say in its favor, except that I was cheered by nearly every minute of it. I cannot argue for the script, the direction, the acting or even the mummy, but I can say that I was not bored and sometimes I was unreasonably pleased. There is a little immaturity stuck away in the crannies of even the most judicious of us, and we should treasure it.

The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. John 1:1,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, 1 John 3:8 KJV He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT. John 3:18 KJV He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Man... This film right here. I can't express how much I love this movie, it has everything, action, adventure, horror, romance and a dash of humour makes it the ideal film to go on an unforgettable journey and just a fun ride. This was just a fun film, it has its flaws... But I just miss it when films just wanted to take the audience into a timeless adventure that could make you feel any kind of emotion. And there is nothing quite like seeing 1990s Brendan Fraser kicking ass while saving the damsel in distress in Evelyn who is so beautiful written along with Jonathan, Rick, and all the other characters. Great film, just a great great film.

My one gripe with the movie has always been the fate of Benny. I loved the fact that he was a character who prioritized survival over everything else. Was he greedy, and a liar? yes. But from the very beginning we saw that he would run at the first sign of danger. Yet the writers decided that, at the end, even though he's already loaded his camel with gold, he will stay and try to drag out more treasure, rather than running away as soon as things start falling apart. That felt so out of character.

Alyska, the thing about how the camels are "faster" than the horses isn't completely a matter of actually BEING faster, but more that Camels are native to sandy regions. Camels have padded feet to make it easier for them to run on the soft sand. Horses are accustomed to hard solid ground so they have evolved for THAT environment. So technically it's not that Camels are faster in general, just on that surface.

Ah, back when we went to the movies to have fun! I know, I know, the 90s had some great dramas too. But, dang it, this movie was a romp that didn’t take itself seriously and it’s just a blast.

When these movies came out, the CGI was amazing. The TV´s were not 50, 60, 85" LED tv´s , but were maybe 28" or 32" analog cathode ray tv´s , where the CGI just looked good. On a digital LED TV today, it does look a bit bad, but we love the movie anyway.

The beginning prologue still haunts me to this day. Imhotep and his priests were mummified alive for god sake! In ancient Egypt, when a person died, embalmers would cut the abdomen open and remove the organs. For the brain, they shoved a metal tool through the nostril and into the skull, poke around to break the brain apart and then flush it out. Ancient Egyptians did this to prevent the bodies from decaying, because they believed in resurrection, and the need for a spirit to recognize its own body. But having the mummification procedure performed on you while you are alive and conscious is pure nightmare fuel...

I remember watching this at the premiere and it looked very unique. The entire franchise is enjoyable. There's also Scorpion King starting The Rock.

The toppling of the bookshelves was accomplished in one take. A good thing too. Cleaning everything up and resetting everything would have taken a long time.

When it comes to Brendan Fraser's The Mummy trilogy, the 1st movie is my favourite since I like how it feels more like a action horror.
