My First City Violation Cut | Overgrown Property Mowing [Neighbors Complained]

In this video, I will be showing you my first ever city violation cut. Upon showing up to mow the overgrown property, I quickly realized why a city violation cut was put into place.
The grass was over 2 ft high with weeds reaching over 7ft. No wonder the property owner was cited by the city for not mowing his tall grass. I also believe the neighbors all complained about the vacant lot being overgrown and an eyesore.
I knew this was going to be somewhat of a challenge on my machines. My lawn mowing skills would be put to the test. Instead of writing a long description like I usually do, I will keep it short and sweet. To follow along during this tall grass mowing video, I have added chapters to simplify what I am doing in each section. That way, fewer questions will be asked and less typing will be done by me.

I enjoyed watching a good man hard at work in double time; without having to suffer through the tired and stale dramatic plots and usual mindless chatter. Gosh this was really enjoyable to watch. Your work on this big patch of brown was simply fantastic. It didn’t matter that it was a City violation property, you gave it a premium groom. Great job Fill, yeah you need to walk those city violation cuts real good to make sure you find all the hiding rocks and wood and all that, random trash too. You did great, only had that one rock surprise by the looks of it. Hope it didn't cause to much damage to anything.

Fist time watching you and by far you are the best. One thing, don;t leave your tools on the sidewalk, you never know who will be tempted. You are very young, wear a face mask because all that dust is not good for you. I know from experience. I am 77 yrs old and do all my yard work and you do it the correct way.

Just watching what you did, starting on the sidewalk, you were doing a "high class" job. There is a view that a crisis cleanup may only deserve a minimum amount of time. That is potential but it does not necessarily restore hope of a place becoming viable or restore the morale of the neighborhood. You were going "above and beyond" and the look of being well cared for, even to the street gutter, was there. Sorry you hit a rock, even after your survey of the property of garbage and junk. Other that the visual improvement, people have mentioned that a clean lot is a reduced fire risk, is not a place breeding mosquitoes or hiding ticks, and mice, rats, raccoons and such are out of a hiding place. Overall the cleanups are important for the whole area. Nice job and good before and after photos.

Very true Julee. I also feel like those select few also believe he could spend his entire day at 1 site and get by. Time is money. That said, I am glad he doesnt sacrifice quality to get done a bit faster. I think his work is solid. I do my own yard, but if I was not able to do so, I would be happy to hire someone to do that well.

I wonder if the owner is elderly. If so why didn’t the neighbors help that person out and cut it for them.it would be a lot better then complaining to the city. People just want to complain instead of helping now a days. Thank you for doing what you do.

@@karenminckler4198 You are 100% correct. A person on need is a friend waiting to be made. People dont see that. But to be fair, we do not know what situation the neighbors are in themselves. I doubt they are all in a bad spot and unable to help though.

when I did City Violation cuts years ago. I did similar things you do. except didnt really use edger that much. I used just string trimmer to make it look nicer. but one thing I always did was. after was done. if there was a sidewalk or around fire hydrate I always had weed and grass killer. so I would spray that around the fire hydrate, then just on the sidewalk part that was near the road and where the road met with the sidewalk or where the road meets with the nature strip. i would spray that area with the weed and grass killer.
