Intuos 4 is now about $100 cheaper since the 5 series just came out. Finally spent my tax return on a Medium 4. Just got it out of the box and can't wait. Been using an old Graphire for 5+years and it had been slowly falling apart. Thanks for this quick and indepth look at the command features.

I like how you talk. You talk very fluently and it's easy to understand, so I don't have to go back and hear again what you've said. Thanks to you, I think I know which tablet to buy. Since the one you reviewed is Intuos4 small, I think i'll buy that one. I also thought of getting a medium size but I'm still not sure. I really wish to get a graphic tablet for so long, and I hope I will be satisfied once I'll get one.

Bought mine today, and it's already in the mail. I've used these at my uni, and I have to say, they are excellent pieces of hardware. Before now I have never had access to a tablet full time, and have had to work around my schedule in order to practice with one. When I saw that the Intuos 4 Medium was on sale for considerably less money than standard, I jumped on it. I don't foresee regretting that decision in the slightest.

Nice review, I actually just bought one used from someone on Facebook for $50 still in the box only thing she did when she got it is tried to use it on a mac and it she found it was not compatible so it is barely used so I think I got a good deal on it, I have been using a wacom bamboo tablet so I think I am in for a treat.

Well, I've held one, and they seem fairly durable for every-day use, as well as picking it up and carrying it around, maybe putting it in a laptop bag, etc. Keep in mind how thin it is, though - you probably wouldn't want it bending too much. As far as the keyboard and the tablet: it depends on your workspace. If you've got a desk with some large front to back surface area, it'll work out fine to have the keyboard just behind the tablet for typing and commands.

I believe Khan uses a Wacom Bamboo Tablet, which is a cheaper tablet in the Wacom line. The Intuos series is a step above the Bamboo line with more levels of precision and sensitivity. The intuos line has a bit more degree of realism to it because of the increased sensitivity and support of pen rotation and tilt.

Using the tablet takes a little bit of getting used to, but it generally comes out exactly how you write or draw with a pencil when you get used to it. Adjusting to it should only take a couple days or less. Writing on the tablet happens in real time, if that's what your second question is saying. If you wanted to write math questions in paint and show them to someone that happens in real time.

I bought an intuos 4 Medium at a pawn shop for 20$, great deal It was in really good shape worked fine. It had the pen all the tips and holder even a mouse. I already own a intuos 5 large that I love. But it is a pain to bring around. That is why I bought the intuos 4. It's small enough to carry around and I'd say it would probably fit in just about any laptop case or bag.

@jeehoondevil For a start? Take a bamboo, if you really get into digital art, get a bigger intuos or cintiq, depending on your budget. Another advantage of the bamboo is that there are some with pen and touch interface, so they offer you touch gestures like that apple touch pad and the precision of a graphic tablet via the pen. Even when you upgrade to a intuos you may find the bamboo still useful for the touch interface.

If you want to do it live via a chat program like Msn messenger, you have to send them a video request for webcam, then change the source feed to your screen, you can do this by downloading a program called "ManyCam". Then you cna just draw in paint or something and it would be a live real time feed.

@jamalanimation You should get the bamboo create. The guy was right it does have active area but the pressure level is actually similar to the intuos4. When your actually drawing on it you dont notice. The intuos is really disturbing because the usb cable gets loose like really loose. I recommend the bamboo create so far my favorite tablet

@THEJEDEYEMASTER Actually, Wah-com... according to their site and how they answer the phones. As for getting use out of it as a non-drawing artist, I agree - I can't imagine you'd get much out of it. It's a great device, I've owned several over the years, and it's entirely for drawing. No clue why someone would want one for clicking menu items or running shortcuts. You're right... maybe save your money for an alternate controller like a Nostromo or something programmable & button oriented.

@C5Rigzz Wack'em wahcom, waycom, ok. The only thing the tablet can do better is selecting fine areas, where the mouse doesn't work so well going diagonally. It should be faster on the whole and more accurate which is what I want. The pen would do a much better job than a good mouse, but it'll still be used with a KB. using both,my arms have to be spread more. I have to check this in depth. As much as I would like one, I'm not sure I need one. I'll check out the Nostromo out as well.

I am thinking about purchasing a tablet. I've never owned one before. How durable are these? I'm also curious how awkward it is to have both a tablet and a keyboard in front of you. How do you switch between the two (physically)? Very nice tutorial. Thanks.
@CloudVaris
@CloudVaris 15 жыл бұрын
However, in a workspace such as mine, my tablet will end up on my keyboard surface (slides out from under the desk) and my keyboard will either be moved up to the next level in front of my monitor, or over on the other side of the keyboard slider, depending on how my computer is set up when I finally get a tablet. Not optimal, but the first situation would allow me to use the keyboard just fine while the tablet was out. After use, I'll probably just unplug the tablet and set it aside.

I would think drawing with it for someone else to view it real time would require a screen capture program. The real time of it would depend on your internet connection more than the tablet itself. If you're talking about the way Khan Academy does his videos, he just draws in a program like Paint or Photoshop and records the videos with a program like camtasia studio.
