Do you even need a baritone? That's the question I asked myself when I decided to pick up this awesome Chapman ML1 Pro Baritone Modern and I finally have an answer to that question.

The Chapman ML1 Pro is a killer guitar and they made a 28" scale one so you can tune it low as balls and chug your neighbours into moving out. But is it good?
I'd never played a baritone six string guitar before so I was interested to find out what the fuss was all about and this thing left me with split opinions. Let's take a look at what I thought.

That line about trying to convince the other half that we need another guitar - lol - so true - "but it's ordered, so like, what can you do?!" Lol!. Facing that exact issue right now and this Chapman ML1 Pro Modern (the standard/non-Baritone version) is seriously tempting. I can get it new for €680...

Sick demo/review, love the jam 🤘🤘. I've been eyeing off the 7 string version of this beast. Hadn't really considered a baritone. I'm learning bass so length probably not an issue except maybe for playing chords. Kinda thought that one day, a 7 string guitar and 5 string bass would complete my collection 🤪 You're right about the pickups, I've got them in an LTD Deluxe and they're sick 🤘

@@JackTaylorGuitars I reckon I need to try both the baritone and the 7 string and see which one feels best. I'm sure I watched something recently as to why you'd want one over the other. PS, listened to your EP again a few times today. Definitely some great tunes you've put together and easy to listen to.

Yeah dude, give them both a go. I’m personally much more into 7s. It’s like having a 6 string with a string for filthy low notes added 😂 Ah dude! That means a huge amount to me. Hopefully the second one comes out decent too eh? Haha Cheers man 🤘

I'm so glad you made this video. Been contemplating a baritone for the last few weeks. Just purchased a digitech whammy dt5 and been using the pitch shifter but I think this guitar might have to be my next purchase haha

Do like a good baritone, went n got a prs other year n as with pretty much anything modded the everloving hell out of it, find it easier than a 7 as im but a simple creature. Wouldn't say its a daily player but by eck its got its place :) Great vid sir and a most lovely lookin geetar :)

Are you some kind of mind reader? I just got back from the skatepark and I was discussing getting a baritone with my mate haha. I have an old guitar I strung with mammoth slinkys and tuned to drop A# as a bit of an experiment and i'm really digging it, which got me to thinking about baritones.

_Now, all you need to pair up with that guitar, is a Midnight Purple Nissan Skyline._ Jokes aside, nice demo dude! MMM, those crispy chugs! 🤌🤌 Rabea made me want a baritone, Mark Lettieri further reinforced that need. Not exactly a fan of metallic paint on guitars, but there's just something about the blue and purple metallic chameleon. Probably developed an interest in that colour, thanks to the Midnight Purple Skyline.

@@JackTaylorGuitars I'm always checking your videos dude. And I'm guessing the 30" for low stable timings. I've only one 7 string (Ibanez 7320) but still feeling more comfortable on 6 strings

Heck yes !! That paint job reminds me of the John Petrucci majesty guitars that have the colour that changes from blue to purple Alright, Jack , I'm going to need the weight of this guitar as I love it ! I will do a bit of searching on google. Holy guacamole I was not expecting such a thick and deep sounding guitar ! Is that what the baritone is for ? That demo was brilliant, dude 👏!! Nicely done. Don’t regret it bro! This is a great guitar though. I got the fretwrap for secret Santa at work a couple years ago dude, you should be able to grab one from most music shops if you need one. And yeah dude, absolutely! I’ve got far too many actually but they’re the ideal pick for me. Thanks for watching bro 🤘

You took the time to watch and comment bro, it's the least I can do 👊 Yeah man, I think they're worth having if you're recording. In this case I was using it to mute the strings behind the nut to stop any overtones, I've used them occasionally before to help with string muting when I'm tracking tricky riffs. I don't tend to use them when I'm just playing but it's worth having one to hand, for sure!

Naw I feel like the long scale length on those baritones is uncomfortable for me as well. I'm 5'8" so my wing span is not long enough to make it easy, bass can be tricky enough already so...😂
