What a moment.
Three days in a tiny tent. Most people struggling for finds and a pretty awful Sunday for me becomes a day to remember.
The detecting might have been poor for most but the event was well organised, the facilities excellent and the people fantastic and the trade stands were brilliant and welcoming.
Met some fantastic people from the Netherlands, Poland, France, England and Scotland, shared stories and a few pints.
Great memories and the first foray out of Scotland for the Scottish Detectorists Pete, Marty, Paul and Me.

This reminds me of a find I had 2 years ago. I had spent 3 days looking for a lost ring at a 90 year old house that had once been a brothel and speakeasy where gangsters in the 30s used to party. I didn’t find much that last day but kept going. I finally found the lost ring and kept searching. The sun was setting and I found 2 tiny balls of aluminum foil and a foot away was the signal for another. I decided to leave but halfway back to my car I turned around and dug that signal. Turned out to be a 14K ring with 6 diamonds and a 4 carat natural blue sapphire. Some gangster’s moll must have lost it. Great find. Never give up

congratulations mate. I was there at detectival and it was pretty dire, especially for my first event. a mate of mine was on that field too. a big reveal from a coin ball too. 👍👍👍

Definitely dire. The Gold hammered was obviously amazing but all in all the detecting was really poor for 95% of people.

Couldn’t believe it! The moral of the story open the tent you buy BEFORE travelling nine hours to the rally and don’t assume ‘2 men’ means two normal sized men!!

Your tenacity is inspirational. Very well done.....you have to put the time in and not give up. I bet you will have to have your lucky two pints of lager before venturing out again. Always pays to check your hole. Hope to be at detectival next year. Cheers.

Yes, let that be a lesson to all!! If he or she had picked that can up and put it in their finds pouch - as are the rules! - and re-swept the hole, it would have been a very different outcome for both of us!!!

Big difference was, Pete's wasn't actually even a tent, it was a proper expensive carp fishing bivvy....those things are night and day in comparison to a cheap tent, comfortably fit two bedchairs in there, a separate outer waterproof skin so no condensation inside coz of the air gap....well worth the dough if u use it on the regs!

Absolutely brilliant. After such a dull weekend, within seconds it ranks as one of the best. That’s life I guess. Outstanding 🤩😎✌🏻. And I guess detecting is the same as choosing tents. 🥴 you have to think big or out of the box… literally. We are all really chuffed for you, but pity the poor person who found the tin can and gave up. Another lesson there for everyone detecting. 😎✌🏻😎 never give up, never surrender. 💪🏻
