We use The Good And The Beautiful as well. We bought all the Brave Writer Dart literature guides too although haven’t totally figured out how to work them into our schedule. We’ve done two so far over the year and like it, but don’t want to overwhelm with TGATB.

I do think the two could work together, but I also can see where it could be overwhelming.

We also enjoy TGATB for language arts. I enjoy Dart and Boomerang for my kids through Brave Writer, but have found that sometimes it feels like overkill when combined with TGATB, so we mostly read the books, touch briefly on the literary devices and do the parties at the end of each unit. The parties can be very involved, though. For one unit my son did, we ended up ordering special flour from South Africa to make a certain dish for the party. It was fun, though sometimes we struggle to find the right balance with it.

I could definitely see how it would feel like a bit much using the two together. I've since had to make major curriculum changes, but we do still use Brave Writer. With what we use for our foundation curriculum now, it's a little easier to trinkle in, especially schedule wise. Yes, the parties are really involved! That's one reason why I enjoy how it's set up for us as the teacher to not have to follow everything to the 't.'

Thank you for your review and first impression. We are also using TGATB for LA, but I have thought about incorporating the Brave Writer singles. My concern was that it would be too much, however, I think I can see how we could do a bit of both.

The Darts and Arrows are not the writing program. Is that what you were hoping for? You would have to purchase the Jot it down, etc….

Yea, I may purchase Jot it down eventually, but for now the Dart literature guides are enough. They still incorporate writing mechanics and have been a way for us to bring writing into our homeschool without it feeling like too much. Good looking out though because I know I can't be the only one who was a little confused on what to purchase at first lol 😆

Wen im using more than 1 curriculum for a subject I find it takes us longer.

I could see that being the case. Depending on how I end up inserting this into our schedule, it may takes us longer to get through TG&TB Language Arts.
