My First LEGO Stop Motion Videos EVER!

Stormtrooper Piano | LEGO Stop Motion
I was so relieved to find these videos. These were the first LEGO stop motion videos I made back in 2018. I used my iPhone 6 and the Stop Motion Studio app.
It's fun yet also painful to watch these LEGO stop motion videos. I wasn't great at controlling light flicker, I rushed the movements, and I still had a ways to go with camera angles... but you have to start somewhere, and this is where I started.
The first video, Stormtrooper and the Piano, was shot entirely on my desk using the sun as a light source. Those LEGO pieces I used were pretty much all I had... I have no idea where the piano came from, but it worked! Each of these videos were made with what LEGO I could find in my house, except for the Snorlax. That belongs to my girlfriend's son... I've always loved that build but never picked one up myself... it's from Mega Construx.
These LEGO Stop Motion videos exploded my fascination with the genre. I loved creating the stories and although the process is tedious (as some of you may know!), watching the minifigures move and react makes it all worth it. LEGO Stop Motion has become a huge part of my life and I enjoy every second of it.
Since making these first LEGO Stop Motion clips, I think I've shot SOMETHING every week. I feel I still have a long way to go, but the more I practice, the better I'll get.
I hope you enjoy these videos and that they inspire you to either start or keep at it. I've only been at this since 2018 and I hope to continue for a long, long time.

The Stormtrooper playing the piano was my favorite. My first lego film is going well. I just recently finished the Twister scene so now I'm onto the Munchkin Land scene.

I smirked so hard at the lightsaber test. I have recently started brckfilming and I’m doing a short stop motion called “Lighsaber Test”. Hah. Your progression was off the charts. Quick question, what FPS do you use on your brickfilms currently?

yes I did! Took me a while to understand light flicker and how to reduce it. I can't say I'm 100% perfect yet because sometimes I get sloppy, though!

This is actually really smooth! Yet I think the FPS is too high. And at the first video, the lighting wasn’t consistent. Great job! :D

Thank you very much! I use MotionFX's mSaber software for the lightsabers. It's super easy and I think it looks great. I tried going the photoshop way but was way too complicated for me. I'm still not great at the computer stuff lol.

My advice is to just start no matter what and make it a point to shoot something as often as you can, even if it's something small like a walk cycle. I practiced the walk cycle for a long long time before I tried something more. I would shoot it all on my iPhone... anywhere. On the kitchen table, the floor, the desk, anywhere lol. The more you do the better you'll get. :-)
