NEW Wireless In-Ear Hearing Protection With Bluetooth, Noise Cancellation & More
➡️ bit.ly/3wnUOPf
I've done all styles of shooting, from Tactical smatical, USPSA Style, Three Gun Style, I even came up with my own style of shooting called athletic shooting but I've never done long distance precision shooting.
I know how to pull a trigger, but that doesn't mean I know the first thing about Precision shooting.
The name of my first long range competition is the GAP Grind Hosted by K&M PRT in Finger Tennessee.
The Gap Grind is a big competition with over 300 shooters, but the cool thing about the GAP Grind is that it is geared toward Amateurs in many ways.
Come with me on this journey to see what happened!
But before you do that, I want to let you know that my favorite in-ear Wireless Bluetooth hearing protection, the Blackouts, is available again on shop.mrcolionnoir.com
bit.ly/3wnUOPf
These incredible things allow you to listen to music, take phone calls, have active noise cancelation, and hear through technology that allows you to still hear the world around you all while still protecting your hearing with a certified NRR rating of 25,
Get them here before they're sold out again.

This was really fun to watch. My hubs is a long retired Green Beret sniper, but spent about 20 years since not doing ANY LD shooting. He's dipped his toes back in, and buddies keep asking him to come to a local shoot. He keeps finding reasons not to. Psyching yourself up is 90% of it! Good on ya!

I can totally see that! I am not, by ANY means, claiming to be on your husband's level. Been LE and SWAT precision rifleman (sniper is for some reason become a bad and scary term, lol) for going on 4 years. I absolutely love it and have gone down the rabbit hole. I want to run a competition and my wife keeps encouraging me. I myself, am hella intimidated! Not to mention, I am a cop, so my gear is on a cop budget. hahaha. It does the job and I don't have much experience shooting out past 500 yard. When I watch a PRS competition, my first question always is, what is the size of the target. They always tell the distance and time, but never the size of the target. Aaaanyway, I feel your husband's pain. Maybe him and I can pysch each other up and run one together hahaha. And I thank him for his service!

@thej118......... thanks for that! I really think his nagging concern is people will have crazy expectations for him because of his background, so he just doesn't want to feel embarrassed if it doesn't go well. A few years ago, I gifted him a class in the mountains of Virginia where there is a range that has all shapes, sizes, and distances of steel up to and including a mile. He loved it, and earned the mile patch. I thought that might be the breakthrough, and he has gone back there again, but that's been the extent of it.

Your transition from various shooting styles to long-range precision is relatable, as many of us are proficient with pulling the trigger but crave the challenge of hitting targets at extreme distances with accuracy and consistency. Your experience sheds light on the accessibility of precision shooting competitions for enthusiasts of all backgrounds, and your honest portrayal of the challenges faced adds authenticity to your narrative. Keep pushing your boundaries and sharing your experiences - it's inspiring for newcomers and seasoned shooters alike

Took the K&M 4 day comprehensive course for my 40th a few years back. It is quite possibly the best training I've ever taken. Highly recommend it to anyone interested in LR shooting. That facility is the Disney World of long range shooting and Shannon is a superb instructor. If anything Colion undersold how nice the facility is.

I watch your channel because I was not raised around pistols. I did watch my uncle shoot a groundhog with a M1 Garand @1000 yards, from on top of a Allis Chalmers tractor.. when I was 8 years old boy.. So it has been Rifles and Shotguns most of my life, from deer hunting, bird hunting, rabbit, squirrel, etc. and trap shooting. (55+ year old now) .. have not really been a fan of pistols... But, as I get into them now, your channel helps me make the right choices, learn some pistol skills and technique. So thanks.

F class shooting is so much fun, I picked up an RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor a bunch of years ago and started practicing, loved it, so I built an AR-10 in 6.5 Creed, that is more accurate than the RPR, it’s amazing how you can have so much fun taking an hour to shoot 20 rounds, then again when I reload 6.5 Creed, it takes me about 8 hours to load 50 rounds, but they’re all identical, and perfect. Glad you had fun at your first match.

Ive watched these comps on Outdoor channel for years, and as an African Am male wondered what the ambiance is like there. YES, the obvious comes to mind...but it was cool to hear him talk about how nice the people are there. As ive gotten into shooting more and more, ive been to more ranges and learned that the folks of this community are similar to the folks in the motorcycling community, and even more specific the trackday & club racing community...there is a bond based on the activity and the love for participating and competing in it.

People don't realize competition is just as important as training and practicing because that's when all the bugs and deficiencies you've been ignoring in your gear, weapon, ammo, and in your proficiency becomes so blaringly obvious that you can no longer ignore it, and that's when you'll actually address the issues and fix them.

this reminds me how much i miss R/C racing. i did 10th scale offroad and some pan car racing at a local track for years and its the same type of vibe. competitive, everyone pushing themselves as far as they can, but also being super chill, friendly and just having a good time hanging out. pros mixed with noobs, expensive baller trucks mixed with cheap stock trucks. when i think of a "hobby" its something like this. where you become part of a community centered around something skill based and you all bring each other up.

I'm a firm believer that one should experience as many different shooting disciplines as possible; 3-Gun, Practical, single-shot .22 target, skeet, trap, air-gun, slow-fire pistol, long-rage precision, and anything else available. Knowledge of one only improves knowledge of the others. Knowledge and skill are precious commodities. Most of all..... it's a HELL of a lot of fun! Good for you, Mr. Noir! Keep exploring! God Bless.

Also, I Do take good care of my ears, but I damaged them pretty badly when I was a kid shooting with no hearing protection (and other loud things). Soon as I get over the money I spent on three (3) long distance rifles and some other gear. I will probably use your link and get some of the earbuds. I do not like owing money, so back to work and save a bit to buy stuff. I will never do a competition like that. I am too old lol. But it is great to watch you having fun doing it. Rock on, Colion! Honestly, everyone I've met shooting PRS is good people. Always willing to help especially if you're a new shooter. I'm switching to bolt gun this year. I've shot gas gun for my first three years but wanted to try bolt so I had Chad at 5x5 Precision build me a 6 dasher. Can't wait for my arm to heal so I can get to training with that rifle. I hope you enjoyed PRS enough to do it again. And to anyone that may read this, first rule in PRS is just have fun and shoot!

Nice job for your first one. Congrats on that. BTW, I know Derek. I've RO'd him at our Parma Precision Rifle Rumble in May. He's a great guy a great shooter and a hell of a BBQ pit boss as well!
