I frigging love all the convoluted, secret stuff there is to do in this game. Hopefully, in 10 years or so from now, when I'm better at Noita, I'll finally give this quest a go.

@@Rogue_Rat I've tried it repeatedly. I only got 50% of it done. Thankfully that 50% persists between games. I have tried to do the remaining 50% a few times but polymorph keeps getting me >.

59:00 Heavy spread reduces recharge time by 0.25. Your current primary wand recharge time is 0.50 seconds. That would slash it down in half to 0.25 seconds. You could put it behind chainsaw because who cares if you add 720 degree spread on a point blank, non traveling spell. You can also use light to create a wand wrap so that it hits heavy spread and chainsaw twice, that would give you a 0 cast delay, 0 recharge wand. So essentially the build would be add mana > heavy spread > chainsaw > bubble spark > light. That would create a fully automatic bubble wand with perfectly sustained mana.

13:13 the perk behaves like a watered down homing spell. So yes it adds acceleration, but only by a small amount.

The magic combo for Luminous Drill and Add Mana is 3 Lumi drills and one Add Mana. Lumi drill is 10 mana, add mana reduces mana cost by 30. When you net out the various delay and recharge mods, you get -1.58 seconds to cast delay, -0.51 seconds recharge time. Slap those spells on any wand with under a 0.5 second recharge time and you have a light saber: will never run out of mana, will do 600 dps (60 frames per second, 10 damage per frame). Use “Increase Lifetime” to make it a laser blaster that will go through walls. Ping Pong Path modifier has a similar effect, but isn’t quite as good (personal preference). So when you passed up that wand full of Lumi drills in the second holy mountain, you missed out a bit. For the record, since you asked: Lumi drill destroys gold. It’s not good for mining. Other good digging spells like energy orb, triplicate bolt, digging blast, and chainsaw, do not destroy gold. But those spells won’t get through steel or brickwork or extremely dense rock or other various materials that a Lumi drill will cut.

Just want to elaborate a little. What you said is correct. However if they were single fired, then the speed up would be accumulative rather than instantaneous if the wand cast delay exceeded 0.41 seconds (lumi's -0.58 reduction + add mana's 0.17) then there will be a delay between casting. If you casted them at the same time using triple cast, the mana consumption becomes 32, which exceeds add mana's 30. However if the wand has the capacity, you can use two double cast since they don't use mana and gain the full time reductions of the three lumis. So it would be add mana > double cast > luminous drill > double cast > luminous drill > luminous drill. If the cast delay is at or below 0.41 then yes, add mana and 3 lumis are all you need.

1:05:07 It also didn't help that you tried retreating along the enemy projectile's path. Rather than trying to fly up into that cavern, you could have stayed in your current position and wait for the projectile and just stop levitating and drop straight down out the projectile's path. That would also give you a lot of distance from the enemy to more successfully runaway.

13:55 return can be very good early on for wand collecting (it’s the 20 gold spell in the bottom left corner of the shop). Granted it will slow your game down since you are running around grabbing wands. The way it works is you grab wands that you want because of either good stats or because it has good spells, run to any portal that goes to a holy mountain, but don’t jump in yet. You take your return spell wand, you cast it and then immediately jump into the portal. You will only have a moment, but toss the wands inside the holy mountain except for the return wand and your attack wand. You will then blip back to the biome and go back to collecting wands. It’s an excellent way to get strong wands and have an inventory of excellent spells.

46:50 This would be a good moment to teach you about wand wrapping, so long post warning >.< . As you have stated, you were concerned about the mana consumption speed of doing chainsaw, spark bolt with trigger, and triplicate bolt along with the wand's slow mana recharge rate. However with wand wrapping, you could have made something simple, fast, and have light mana usage. The build would have been chainsaw > spark bolt with trigger and that's it. Now to explain, the wand will first fire chainsaw, which it seems you are aware will cause your cast delay to reset to 0 and it will shave off 0.17 seconds from the recharge timer. Then spark bolt with trigger will fire, but the trigger has nothing to pull since the next slot is empty. So the trigger "wraps" back to the start of the wand and tries to find a spell. It will then find chainsaw and since chainsaw is not part of the current spell block, the trigger pulls chainsaw and uses it. Spells inside a trigger CANNOT effect cast delay so you will still get the added cast delay from spark bolt which is 0.05 seconds, but spells inside a trigger CAN effect recharge delay, which means you have shaved off another 0.17 seconds. So your wand will go from 0.25 cast delay and 0.47 recharge delay to 0.05 cast delay and 0.13 recharge delay and the mana consumption is only 12 per recharge. That is decently fast. Also chainsaw on a trigger is powerful. Spark bolt will hit an enemy and do 3 damage, then it casts chainsaw which does an additional 12.75 slice damage, totaling the damage to 15.75 per hit which isn't too shabby given the fire rate. Just note that the chainsaw doesn't really hurt machines so you have to be cautious of them. Bonus chainsaw strategy, since chainsaw doesn't move, you can take full benefit of this by adding all sorts of projectile pathing modifiers like horizontal path, linear arc, etc which normally makes using projectiles difficult, but they do add +damage to them. However chainsaw doesn't travel, which means, free damage. Bonus wrapping strategy, when you wrap to chainsaw you are effectively casting it twice before a wand recharge, giving you -0.34 recharge reduction instead of the regular -0.17 seconds. The same benefits can be applied to spell modifiers. For instance, if you do add mana > chainsaw > spark bolt with trigger, instead of the 30 mana you get from add mana, you will now get 60 because it will get casted twice.

Thanks as always for the amazing tips. Watching the clip back on that timecode I immediately thought 'Doh! I should have taken the triplicate bolt off and just used the chainsaw and spark bolt'. It's good to know things like 'spells inside a trigger can't effect cast delay, but can effect recharge' - whether or not i'll remember this whilst recording is another thing entirely haha

Add mana increases spell delay, so it's best to use after a trigger. Chainsaw hidden ability is to negate all spell delay when it is the last spell in a multicast. Your best option would have been to use chainsaw- double cast - spark bolt w/trigger- add mana- heavy spread- triplicate bolt for rapid fire madness. Spell wrapping is a thing, any multicast or modifier at the end will use the first spell in the wand.

I think I understand. So basically in the example you gave, I'm trying to get the double cast to use the chainsaw (even if you put it in the first slot of the wand), which then starts the sequence over again?

@@Rogue_Rat Yes and no, "spell wrapping" doesn't start the chain again, it fills in the empty blocks in the multicast before the wand is done and begins recharge. Recharge Delay is the limiting factor with chainsaw multicast shenanigans, by placing it first you get to use it twice in one cast block. Chainsaw also has the benefit of being a single frame animation, thus barely interrupting the stream of nonsense you spew from the wand.

Luminous drill costs more mana and has more frames in its animation while reducing cast and recharge delay, digging bolt adds cast delay and has a long animation while reducing recharge. Timers and triggers ignore cast delay of "stored spells", making any recharge delay speed up the wand without increasing or decreasing cast delay. Trigger spawns the spell inside enemies when hit or from the surface struck, this negates most heavy spreads area issues, as well as cast delay reduction, making it a cheap recharge reduction option after a trigger. It will however amount to chaos in most timers.

@@Rogue_Rat it’s not quite a roguelike in that there are a couple of checkpoints in the game… but it’s as difficult as a typical roguelike, and the gameplay is tops
