Certainly can't complain about image quality Matt. If the Nikon is adding to your capabilities and seen to offer you something the Fuji can't then it's surely got to be worth it. Loved the image by the way

Love this video dude! Would it be possible to get the same imagequality with the fuji-system?

Well, congratulations Matt. I am sure you will be happy with Z6ii. I have both Z6ii and Z7ii and use them extensively. Very reliable system. Good Luck

I changed over fully this year from ten years with Fuji, and I have no regrets. I shoot zero landscapes or sceneries like you - instead weddings, events and gigs. Now that the Z8 is out, everybody is dropping their 6ii like hot-cakes because they think the focus is so terrible. However, if you know your shtick well, plan your shoots, minimise lens changes and set the right settings, it's actually very good. I can shoot a gig with over 1,000 images and have less then 15 out of focus. That is with dancing and moving and people involved in action. The images from the 6ii are gorgeous, the camera is lovely (I have 2 bodies), and nice and small. I wouldn't want the Z8 because in Australia it is 7K body only, is taller and bigger than my 6ii, and weighs another 200 g. The big benefits for me are with the FF sensor. I shoot gigs in poor light and if I didn't nail the exposure perfectly, on the Fuji, and had to pull up shadows in high ISO. the image would often turn to custard - no so with the Nikon.

Hey Matt - enjoy your channel and a big fan of Fuji.. ironically I have been toying with the idea of a z6 also. Would love to hear your thoughts and decisions you went through in making the switch! Or maybe a video.. 😊

Hi Matt You are so blessed you can go out by yourself. Here in South Africa you have a 90% chance of been robbed. Can risk it, only get a chance in a national park. If you very lucky a ranger will take you out. Greetings from Johannesburg

Nikon Z cameras & lenses have great image quality & sharpness. I shoot Z7II & 24mm f1.8 happily for nightscapes. Z6 & 20mm f2.8 is a popular choice for nightscapes plus general landscapes. Have tried night shots with Fuji Xt & fast lenses but noise much higher than my Nikon.

Work with what works for you the best images were never created by a camera that’s not enjoyable to use- I love Fujifilm for that reason and have been with Fuji since 2012 but if I was gonna go full frame the Nikon system right now is hard to beat at this moment

Matt, long photo shoot day, but man you scored some brilliant shots! Your landscape photography inspires me. Thank you for all that you put into your videos. A former Nikon shooter, I switched to Fuji for the mechanics of making the settings and the sensor in the XT-3. Curious how the Milky Way shot would have looked on your Fuji.

Nice! I use my Nikon Z6 for almost nothing these days. I use my Nikon Z7 for all my typical "landscape" images. I use my X-T3 for my nightscapes. Yes, I prefer the X-T3 rendering of night skies over my Nikon cameras, (I always use my star tracker). BTW...if you want some Nikon Z6 or Z7 tracked sky images for comparison, reach out and I will send you some.

I have Fuji and canon full frame. I’d love a Nikon Z8 but I can’t lose the amazing hi resolution EVF of my R5 or XH2S. I think the Z 20mm 1.8 is a fantastic lens so well done for making a great switch. I’m surprised you didn’t get the Z7ii though for landscapes?

Mh i dont think that the benefit of changing from 13mm 1,4 APS-C to 20mm 1,8 FF is high enough to justify the invest into an other system. But it is your choice.

I wouldn't buy full frame if I had so many F1.4 lenses. In night photography, you only have an advantage if you use an equally fast lens with the same angle of view as on APS-C. Is there a 20mm F1.4 for Nikon ? With F2.0 you won't see any difference, because on FF you have to go one step higher with the ISO than on APS-C. Then you are at the same noise and dynamic range. But you have to carry and pay more.
@Gundolf300

What are you on about? There's not a a single aps-c camera that comes close to Nikons dynamic range. In fact nikon tops the board in that regard overall. Only ones that might be better are smaller medium formats. For instance fuji aps-c has a dynamic range of about 13 stops, while nikon tops at just below 15, which in dynamic range is quite alot! And thats not even counting the difference bigger pixels and optic (yes,,,they do effect dynamic range quite alot to) makes.
@FrankHa.
@FrankHa. Жыл бұрын
@@Gundolf300 I don't think you know that with any sensor the dynamic range decreases by about one stop with every higher ISO Stop. On APS-C you have about the same dynamic range at the half ISO. for example: the XT-4 has 7.14 stops dynamic at ISO 2000 and the Nikon z6ii 6.9 stops dynamic at ISO 4000. so the Nikon with one stop more on the lens and with one ISO step higher, is at a disadvantage. With Nikon you can take a 20mmF1.8 and with Fuji a 13mmF1.4. Then you have to use ISO 3200 with Nikon and only ISO 2000 with Fuji. With Fuji you get 7.14 f-stops dynamic range and with Nikon 7,24 Do you think; you'll see the 0.09 stops more dynamic? 🤔The noise will show the same difference. By the way the A7iii has 8.54 stops at ISO 1600 and beats the Nikon with 8,19 so there are better FF than Nikon and not just better medium formats, so what are you talking about.
@Gundolf300
@Gundolf300 Жыл бұрын
@@FrankHa. I know that very well. Also, dynamic range comes down to more than reading specs on DxOMark... But, hey, think what you want. I've compared myself and the fuji files where blown clean out of the water. And that was compared too a canon...
