So today was the first run for Copart with the new truck. I remembered to turn on the camera for the loading but forgot on the unloading. I will get better at this. I went to Albany and Lebanon to pick a couple. I had to dollie the second vehicle as it was AWD. Truck is running amazingly. AC works great. I know this new chapter in towing is either going to get me into shape or it's going to kill me. 😀 I hope everyone has a safe and great Memorial Day weekend. I hope that these videos are not too long for you. I will probably be able to shorten them down as I get faster at loading. Let me know what you think.

Great video. If im not mistaken the hook on the bridal is supposed to be facing upwards, not downwards

We have since swapped out that hook for a latching closed swivel hook. Not a problem anymore. Thank you for watching.

Ive bought quite a few from Copart having a small body shop.I've bought more from IAA Anyway it's interesting seeing where these vehicles are picked up from/ come from. So how is salvage towing? I've heard through the grapevine they don't pay much. It's steady work but low paying and they wear your trucks out sending you all over everywhere....... Never-mind I now see how your deal with the new truck is working out with them. Funny I bought a CRV just like that one you dollied I just got it repaired from a rear end I fixed it for my wife but she hasn't started driving it yet. I overpaid for it but that's the way things are at the auctions now. Take care thanks for posting some tows with the new truck!

The funny thing about the auctions here. People are buying cars and pulling the Cats off and the wheels and tires and are scrapping them. They get more out of scrap than they pay at the auction. The truck is on a lease for five years at the end of the five years there is a balloon payment or we turn the truck in and get a new one. If I remember correctly the warrantee goes that long on the drive train, I think. Thanks for commenting.

Good to see videos being made by people new to making them. I looked into the Truck in a Box program. They wanted 2500 to 3500 a month for the truck payment. They said it would be 4 runs minimum per day and 20 to 36 per week. It didnt seem to me like there would be much time left for private tows or money to put food on the table. What are your thoughts

As a single truck company it is very hard. When we got the truck we had a second truck running. Once he quit and we couldn't find another driver things fell apart. It depends on your location. Some runs for us here in Oregon were three to four hour runs. Some were 12 hour. So here it made it dificult to run other calls. If you cover a smaller area running two cars at a time its a few hours and you can run your own. I think we were paying $2500 a month. Our insurence is what killed us. The truck made it's payment just running Copart calls. Look up Ryan Forrest Hinson on Facebook. He started with just one truck from Copart and now he is killing it..He might be able to help you with what he is doing. He has two or three trucks now. Thank you for watching.

@@markstowingroadsideservice is hauling for Copart worth it ? I have a f650 with 21 ft kilar flat bed and a wheel lift and I do tows with my own clients but as far as auction only heard things but don't know much . I'm in Seattle thank you anyways

I think most of the tow guys around here just pull the driveshaft so they don't have to deal with dollies. On some tucks and AWD vehicles I've bought the driveshaft will be pulled and the bolts left inside somewhere. This sucks when the driveshaft falls off and the loader runs it over. Ask me how I know....

Dave, You may have had the option of putting the AWD on the bed and the total loss on the wheel lift,( junk tow the front end). That way you avoid having to dollie the awd. I hauled for CoPart for two years straight using a wrecker. Maybe get some short chains and junk chain ‘em, save yourself some work.

Both were AWD and now a days the adjuster comes to Copart and looks at the cars. So any added damage is on me. Thanks for commenting.

I am thinking about putting my truck with them. Just curious how much they pay per car i know it depends on the radius but just to get a rough idea. Thanks & nice content. Just a suggestion instead of putting the camera on the head if u tie it on the chest that would be more stable in my opinion.Stay safe out there 🤜🤛

On one of my first videos I had a chest mount and all I could see was the side of the truck. You really couldn't see what I was doing. A lot of KZfaqrs run with a helit or cap cam, so people can see more of what I see. Copart pays differently for distace and locations. Oregon get less than Texas I think for example. We made just enough to cover the cost of the new Rollback but no profit. It's good to keep fuel in the truck. Our truck cost $500.00 a week. Insurence I think was $1,800 a month, for the new rollback and an old 95 rollback. There are a few guys here that run for them and seem to make decient money. Thank you for watching.

They are In The Ditch Dollies. Zips said they couldn't get Collins, which I prefer. A couple of the videos I highlight the problems with them. For me Collins are just safer to use. Thanks for watching.

If you are refering to the Truck in a Box program, yes that is the truck we got from that. They have International and I believe Freightliner.

I’m hoping to do the truck in a box , request when I first started my business 8 months ago as a transporter GA only when my credit was good, now that my credit gone to hell they call and ask am I still interested I said yes ,but it is what it is a feel like a rollback would increase my revenue 30-50%

The Truck in a Box program is a good program. They always had calls for me. The biggest issue we have is our overhead. If you really dont have any, or you have other trucks that are running it's a good deal. Unfortanatly we lost our only other driver, the boss can no longer drive, we had a huge office and yard payment and couldn't find another driver. We ended up losing everything. I just couldn't run enough to make the money we needed to make money. Copart was true to everything they said. Our yard here in Eugene have good people working for them. Thank you for watching.

Thank you for the imput, however the only other option I have is a chest mount. When I am close to the truck hooking up or operating the controls all you see is the side of the truck. Not what I am doing. Watching most of the KZfaq towers, they use head mount as well. Best I can do.
