Great win. I had one hand pay ever. Your in the right location to get more jackpots over 1200. Might have to do with taxes. We don't pay taxes up here meaning they likely tighten the machines.

You always have to pay taxes. It’s just a matter of them getting your information or not which usually they don’t for hand pays

If you win a handpay, how much are you expected to give as a tip ?

It’s generally a percentage of the amount. On this amount, $50 would be generous I think. On larger jackpots, I think a more set amount is fine. You wouldn’t tip $500 on a $12000 jackpot for instance. I suppose you could but $200 on a big jackpot like that seems plenty to me. It literally takes the attendant a few minutes to get you paid.

I guess it’s simply an ancient custom that has been kept alive. You don’t have to but it’s considered bad luck if you don’t tip. On this amount, $50 I would think would be more than generous. For some high rollers though, they will get multiple handpays and still lose money. Imagine losing $5000 and still being expected to leave a tip.
