Wooooo Hooooo Kaitlin, congratulations on your first striper in the surf AND you should know that the fun and excitement of catching a fish in the surf never goes away...particulary when it's a striper.....BTW.... you should know (if you don't already know....) that that slimy substance on the outside of the fish is part of it's natural system to protect it from parasites ..... when you lay the fish down on the sand, you can remove that slime off the body and it actually harms the fish. So if you plan to measure the fish, try to measure it while the fish is still laying in the sand and water at the same time, that way the fish is more likely to live if you decide to let it go........Congratulations again and I loved your video, makes me want to go fishing !

We’re I go surf fishing is rare see chill people I notice a lot are hostile and hate on each other when you catching and they are not, if you try those lucky craft lures catch halibut they are fun to catch.

Congratulations on your keeper! One advice, if you plan on fishing for stripers again please use a circle hook in the event it is not a keeper. Also, there is no need to set the hook with a circle hook

If you go to the surf where the sand is wet, just pick up a handful of sand and you should get 1-2 sandcrabs. I've always had success with that.

Try a uni knot for tying your rigs on. Far stronger option than the “fisherman’s knot”.

Too late now, but you need to rinse your fishing reels and poles (the eyelets especially) with freshwater after fishing. The saltwater and spray will corrode (rust) the metal on the equipment.

I really enjoy the videos and content and appreciate you showing other girls/young ladies how to be outgoing and try new things. That being said… I dont want to nag you but I had to say something because women have all of their future children/ eggs in them already. Stripers are known to have high levels of mercury in them(the smaller ones have less accumulated in them). It’s not advised that children or women expecting to have children in the future eat the meat. The mercury accumulates in us too. Even for men it’s only advised to eat it once a week. Adult women not expecting to have children in the future is once a week. I’m not the law and am genuinely concerned. If you already know and aren’t worried then I’ll save my breath.
