The first time I heard this song I had to stop my bike. On a long distance motorcycle trip just stopping isn't easy but I had to. I lost a dear woman early to breast cancer, soldiers I served with after I left the US Army and my older brother just four years ago and it all hit me at once. Tears soaked my beard and I had to let it all out as I Thanked Wakan Tonka, God and Chris Stapleton for the gifts of them in my life. Chris's song writing has taken many artists to number one and awards but his own singing puts him at the top of any list. Thank You for sharing Sweety. Take care of them girls of yours. Was wondering when another Chris Stapleton song was coming our way and here we are , you never disappoint . I think most of us have felt the way of these lyrics at some point( I have) .. especially behind closed doors , when we don't need to put on a brave face .Such beautiful mellow guitar playing and a soft , and then powerful voice at the same time!!! Not mentioned your pop ups for a while , but always great information in there ... telling us how you feel etc .

You really need to react to his live performance of Tennessee Whiskey at Austin City Limits. That performance of that song is as perfect as it'll ever be!! No one, maybe not even Chris himself, will ever top that version of that song. I'm sure all of us subscribers would really like to see your reaction!!!

Great reaction. Chris Stapleton is generally better live so pick his live performances over his studio versions whenever possible. He didn't actually start out as a singer but limited himself to songwriting. He has written and co-written over 170 songs, among them six number-one country songs, earning him nine ASCAP Country awards, including the Vanguard Award. His songs have been recorded by some of music's biggest stars, including Adele, Brad Paisley, and Dierks Bentley. He has co-written songs with Vince Gill, Peter Frampton, Sheryl Crow, and Ed Sheeran, to name a few. He also wrote some songs for feature films, which are included on their respective soundtracks. In 2007, Chris Stapleton started as the frontman for the bluegrass band The SteelDrivers, which is how I first learned of him. In 2010, he started a Southern Rock band called The Jompson Brothers. In 2013 he started his solo career after being signed by Mercury Nashville. He surprisingly did not become an overnight success. However, He eventually did become well-known and has been unstoppable ever since. He has received numerous awards and nominations. He is the recipient of five Grammys, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, ten Country Music Association Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, and others. I would recommend his live performances at Austin City Limits of “Tennessee Whiskey” and of “I Was Wrong,” which showcases an awesome guitar solo, his impromptu cover of James Brown's “It's A Man's World,” his tribute performances to Prince and Aretha Franklin, any other live performance, as well as his music video "Fire Away." Be forewarned; the last one is a tear-jerker, no matter how tough you are. I would also highly recommend his performances of "Cold" at the 2021 CMA Awards, “Tennessee Whiskey/Drink You Away” with Justin Timberlake at the 2015 CMA Awards, and his cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters.”
