So I recently travelled to South Africa to go to Kruger National Park on Safari and originally was a solo trip until I asked my brother if we wanted to come! My Treat!
Find out how I got on and what I saw and come and experience South Africa with me and see what you think! It was my Brothers first Safari and we ended up going to Kruger National Park only but it was amazing!
We travelled from London to Copenhagen and spent the day there. From Denmark we caught the flight to South Africa via Zurich in Switzerland and landed in Johannesburg the next day after a 10.5 hour flight! Was it worth it? Find out within!

Thank you! Oh wow now that is big but very interesting about the vegetation part! Hmm. Oh we unfortunately didn’t have the time to go to Cape Town but have to visit again for sure. Everyone we met was going or had been there and I’m already looking at going back! I want to do the drive to Port Elizabeth I think it is. What a destination 💙

Hello, I am a South African and live here. Im so glad you came to visit our beautiful country. Wrt the Kruger, it is rather a hit and miss the way you saw it however if you stay at a lodge that has land next to the kruger itself you have a more personal trip from the rangers who then can drive into the bush. Lodges that are in the surrounding towns do not have that luxury and have to stay to the roads. SA summer months are not the right months to visit cos it is very hot and the animals look for shade and water holes which not necessary are next to the roads. Best time to visit is our winter months. The grass is lower you can see further and the animals come to the water holes closer to the roads cos they are deeper and hold more water.

The rest of the country is cold in winter except of course along the coast line and then the northern part of our country cause the kruger crosses the tropic of capricorn. Up the top of kruger the vegetation also changes into open fields which changes the animals as well. The weather is mild (mid 20 degrees and in summer mid 30 degrees) and sunny daily. Not the melting heat you get in the summer. Yes the private game reserves adjacent to the kruger go off road and they have contact via two way radio with the other drivers if a sight is seen and they then can go faster to give their clients a better chance to see the animals and not leave it to chance. Oh that’s summer for us in England then! Haha. Oh I wasn’t aware the vegetation changes up north! So much to explore still. I’ve seen videos of lions in Kruger strolling together and that looked incredible! Yes will definitely be coming back I absolutely loved the country! Will definitely visit Cape Town this time too! I am South African from Gauteng I did not know these you mentioned ❤❤❤ thank you in deed we learn everyday. We always visit Kruger in Winter and we always see the big 5 but my reason for going in Winter is that snakes hibernate and I won't see them

The best time to visit Kruger is in the winter (dry season) when the vegetation isn't as dense and you can see further. Also, go to the northern parts along the Letaba river--in my experience you see more there.

When I came from Guinea West Africa to the UK, the first thing I noticed when interacting with people is how very little they about Africa. Their misguided knowledge of Africa is shocking. Over the past few years, I invited many of my British friends my wife included to travel with me to Guinea, honestly I cannot describe how shocked in a positive way once we arrived. Western media is really is disadvantaging the people it should be serving.

Western media does that to portray Africa negatively while disregarding any good news. Specifically CNN, BBC and others. Just search South Africa on the internet you will be shocked by the negative information published purposely to misinform and tarnish our country's image.

We go to kruger with my family and stay inside the park and drive our own car we're not rushed we've seen lions cheetahs hippos man you name it animals making kills the most amazing animals too be seen there honestly

Kruger National Park is huge to can see all the wild life at one go. However if you safari with private game lodges like Sabi-Sabi they get to go off road & closer to the animals. Glad you had an awesome time in sunny Mzansi.

Remember the Kruger National Park is as big as the Size of a country (The whole Israel) So you might get disappointed or not, you signed up for a real wildlife experience and that's what you'll get, an alternative is going to private game reserves which are usually smaller but still beautiful. I live in the UK aswell right now and the Kruger National Park is literally 20 minutes away from my house, so thank you for visiting my country 😀 and there is still alot more to explore as it is cheaper than the UK, lots of business opportunities there aswell. Cheers!!

The Kruger is your best bet, staying inside the Kruger with guides/rangers that work inside Kruger National Park is how you'll see all the animals. You were lodging outside Kruger and booked a tour to be taken to Kruger as opposed to staying inside the park, there's a world of difference in my opinion. The animals are tracked daily and Kruger rangers update each other and communicate via radio where the last spotting of certain animals was. Remember Kruger is vast, you can take the entire day and not even cover the whole park. A 3 day stay minimum is recommended.

Hey thank you for this! We did a three day stay but on the second day when we did the whole day we didn’t see many so thought we may have lost our chances! I wasn’t aware you can actually stay in the park so definitely something I will look at next time and wasn’t aware that the rangers in the park are different? Don’t they talk to each other still? At one point they said Lions had been spotted about 40km from where we were so we took a drive there but didn’t see any! 🙁 will definitely look into staying at the park though that sounds like a great shout so that you for those tips! Definitely sounds like staying inside with the rangers who work there will be good next time and there will definitely be a next time it was truly remarkable nonetheless! 💙

Next time u come to SA come during festive season...book caravans and go camping in drankensburg mountain in KwaZulu Natal province.......Its cost very much less than staying in a hotel in Sandton

Dont want to hype Cape Town and surrounds but its a place you wont want to leave when the time is up. Also the Kalahari stretching into Namibia and Namibia as a whole is also well worth visisting. April is best for Cape Town, just after the heat of summer and just before the rains start in earnest in May. We can easily see tourists in Cape Town thats been caught unawares in our summers - pink to dark red skins 🙂 except if you are not a whitey off course...

The tour guide should have taken you to waterholes. Early n afternoon definitely waterholes is the spot to see all the animals. You are welcomed in South Africa❤

Totally disagree with you about the Kruger, you should have stayed inside the park. If you wanted a close encounter with animals Thornybush, Sabi Sabi are amazing

Kruger is stacked with animals, but the way you did it, isn't the best way and it requires more luck than normal. Need to be out early morning (530am) and back in camp by 10am. Do the same again in the evening. It's just too hot for animals to be mobile in the middle of the day. The other thing is that Kruger doesn't have those massive grasslands, so visibility is less. It really is worth spending money on a private lodge to max the safari experience

@@WanderWithHass Wrote that early morning with my glasses off... cleaned up the typos! Private OR stay inside the park and book the SANPARKS morning and evening drive. Self drive when you don't know bird calls, and your eyes aren't "bush ready" is a serious struggle. You are also here in summer when the grass is higher after the rains have arrived. June-Sept it's much lower.

@@WanderWithHass Cape Town and elsewhere it's great this time of year. Safari is also good... I am going to Kurger for a week each in Jan, Feb and March! The birdlife is amazing, there are lots of babies around in summer and the bush is pretty... not brown and drab. The other major issue is going for such a short time. It isn't a zoo so you can take a few days to see things. 3 or 4 full days is best. Sometimes I go 4/5 days without 1 leopard, but then sometimes get 4 on one day.

Yeah I don’t think I have the patience to do a few days but as I mentioned in the video I was fortunate to see much more in a shorter time in Kenya. Each to their own I guess it’s all about preference and I think I preferred the open plains

That's exactly why I don't love the Kruger as a South African..You're very restricted. In Pilanesburg you will see more. We just went to Botswana and we saw loads because we could travel wherever we wanted to. South Africa is beautiful though and there are plenty of game farms and parks to choose from

Do a longer trip to Cape Town, go see the penguins, go up Table Mountain, take a boat ride to Robbin Island where Nelson Mandela spent his time in prison. If you like wine, go do a wine tour to the wine farms. Hout Bay harbour for fresh fish restuarants. There is so much to do there. Go for a drive to Chapmans Peak.

Kruger NP is a disappointment. I've heard about it and watched quite a number of videos on it and I can't believe the contrast between SA parks and reserves vis-a-vis East African parks and reserves. The Mara-Serengeti ecosystem is unmatched anywhere in Africa for its lush plains that teems with wildlife. As a Kenyan, I understand what you are saying. The parks there in SA are bushy/thickety whilst in East Africa it is plains, such a contrast. Nairobi itself has its own national park within the city limits, the only of its kind in the whole wide world.

Yes I visited the Nairobi National Park too and Lake Nakuru, it was amazing. I would love to visit Amboseli too! I think Mara/ Serengeti has to be the ultimate! You can’t beat that eco system and experiencing it was a privilege! I would love to see more in Africa but SA as a country was amazing, I just saw so many fewer animals in the same amount of time which really hit me!

@@WanderWithHass For a lifestyle comparable to the developed world you will find it in SA, Jo'burg and Cape Town mostly. Safaris are better experienced in East Africa.
