I already been to BANGKOK, KUALA LUMPUR and JAKARTA and honestly what makes these cities stunning is that they have iconic buildings like the petronas of KL but, when it comes to organized, well planned with pedestrian friendly and modern BGC is far far better it really looks like American major downtowns like CHICAGO, Brickell, MIAMI and NEW YORK. it doesnt looks like Asian cities.

Binondo Chinatown was established in 1594, the OLDEST Chinatown in the world. It was also the Makati up until the late 60s when Makati, developed in the 50s, emerged as the first to be created a Corporate city in the ASEAN.

They are trying to redevelop Escolta, Binondo back into the posh area it was back in the 1960s. Unfortunately Escolta was abandoned in favor of Makati in the 1990s and the place slowly turned into a state of disrepair that it is today. The local government has a 15 year tax free incentive for someone who can fund the redevelopment. The plan was to turn Escolta into the Clark Quay (premium shopping and food area in Singapore) of the Philippines.

Thank you for correctly identifying BGC as METRO Manila (maybe put "Taguig" as well since BGC is not a real city by law). We need to promote correct geography with the increasing popularity of PHL. We do not want our welcome visitors to end up in Quiapo instead of BGC because they mistakenly told the airport taxi to head for "Manila".

Growing up in the Philippines, I remember my oldies always telling us we should be friendly to neighboring countries, including the USA. My grandparents told me how the Americans helped us liberate Fron from the Japanese invasion, which I would be grateful forever. Ironically we are also had a good relationship with the Japanese. I guess Filipinos are always forgivable and never hide grudges in life. That's why we welcome everyone with open arms.

About WW2, I think it's important to note that the Philippines weren't some far-flung country in the corner of Asia that out of nowhere, the US decided to liberate from Japanese invasion. The Philippines was part of the American commonwealth and sphere of influence. Not just pop culture and whatnot but literal part of American commonwealth much like how Puerto Rico is today. We flew the American flag above our own and we used the American dollar. The US is literally bound by law to defend the commonwealth. Of course I wasn't undermining the friendship that blossomed between these two countries. Just saying that not everything is as black and white as it seems, considering that the US invaded us first before the Japanese did. There's a reason why we speak English and not Spanish despite being part of the Spanish empire for three centuries.

THE AMERICAN NOT INVADED THE PHILIPPINES, WHEN THE SPANIARD DONE THEIR RULING THEY SOLD THE PHILIPPINES FOR 1 MILLIONS DOLLARS THATS HOW THE AMERICANS CAME TO THE Philippines AND Philippines Became US TERRITORY, ALONG WITH GUAM, AND PUERTO RICO, THEN THE AMERICAN GIVE THE Philippines BACK TO ITS PEOPLES IN JULY 1946 , THATS WHY WE CELEBRATE OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY …. ✌️✌️✌️🙌

@@tessmacgyver1023 not entirely true… Japan was in a war of conquest in China since 1937, but it realized they lacked the resources to conduct a longer protected war if they wanted to succeed. particularly, they needed oil. which can only be found in what was at the time the Dutch East Indies or Indonesia and Malaysia. so they decided to grab that as well considering that the Dutch were already in a war with Hitler. and knowing that the Dutch allies, Great Britain and the US will never let that happen, Japan decided to strike first and destroy british and america forces in the area, namely Malaya, Hong Kong and the Philippines. so yes, the philippines was technically dragged into the war but, even if the US forces were not there, and since the philippines was in the way of Indonesia, the same way Korea was in the way if china… Japan would have coerced whoever controlled the philippines into cooperation, by force or otherwise. it wouldn’t have mattered if the US or Spain or an independent government controlled the philippines… japanese presence would have been inevitable.

Our tour guide told us that the Manila American Cemetary & Memorial was designed by the same person who designed National Memorial Cemetary of the Pacific here in Hawaii. And I see the similarities although the design of the graves in Manila adds to the visual appeal as marked by white marble crosses while the one in Hawaii doesn't have any as the markers are laid flat on the ground.

Nice video Zane. Some 5 years ago or so if I am not mistaken, a group of American Mormon missionaries became famous in the Philippines and they called themselve the Hey Joe Show. They recorded an album and it was a big hit.

BGC comes to life when the sun nears to set. Pinoys don’t like heat, so they will thrive in airconditioned area such as mall. They come out by the afternoon around 5pm.

The buildings back there are pretty short actually. In major US and Canadian cities the skyscrapers are about 2-3 times taller.

I'd love to see it. The last visit I made to Manila was in the mid-90's and I remember that everyone, including McDonald's, had armed guards.
