The description of humidity in Florida being heavy, like increased gravity, is accurate! When it’s overcast, it can feel like you’re trying to breathe underwater!

When I was a kid (the 1980's) we used to go there around that time, but we would also rent a car. Now we couldn't choose the car, so a lot of the time it would have VINYL seats which would bake in the hot Florida sun all morning. When it was time to go to the theme parks (in our short shorts which the adults dressed us up in) we would fight over who was getting in first. A lot of scorched thighs.

I am glad to see Gatorland (with it's alligator entrance) are still open. It was the most popular tourist attraction in Central Florida until Disneyworld opened there. As far the oppressive heat, a common saying in the south when someone says it's hot is that "it's not the heat, it's the humidity." I look forward to seeing your other adventures in Florida.

Bonjour Marie, the heat and humidity in the southern US is brutal. I spent a year in Mississippi, and I never got used to it. Your excitement at the pirates dinner was so cute and adorable. It reminded me of the medieval dinner.

The pirate show kind of reminded me of medieval times! Different theme, but same level of thrill and excitement! Glad you were able to beat the heat while in Florida. Being from Canada and more used to a colder climate, I would be sweating bullets. My asthma wouldn't be a big fan of the heat either. Cheers! 🍻🐊 🇺🇸 ✈️ 🌎

I'm from Charleston, SC, which is close to Florida. The southeast US is hot and humid, but we get used to it. But, the winters are mild, which I love. Gators live in the SE us from South Carolina down to Florida and west to Louisiana and Texas. Just assume all fresh water may have alligators. Respect their space and you won't have any problems. I have several gators that live in a pond behind my house and we never had major problems.

It's not so much the heat in Florida that gets to me, I'm used to pretty hot summers in Southern California. It's the insane humidity! Between the influence of being on the Gulf coast and all the swampy areas, the humidity is ridiculous! And that makes it feel so much hotter (and, as you noted, "heavy"). Another effect of it is that when you come out of an air conditioned building into the hot, humid outside air, my glasses (cooled by the A/C inside) immediately fogged up!

Bonjour Marie! Yes, visiting Florida in the Summer is THE WORST! LOL! It's not so much the heat as it is the humidity. For instance, Arizona is HOT but it's a "dry heat" so it may feel hotter but not heavier. We get high humidity here in Michigan in the Summers (likely due to the Great Lakes,) and I suppose 80F (27C) and 90% (or higher) humidity in Michigan and in Florida shouldn't feel all that different, but it always does feel "steamier" there (maybe due to proximity to the Equator?) Anyway, thanks for another great video, I hope that you ended up enjoying the warmth but did not get sunburned. Bonne Année! ~Be Blessed

I started watching the Gatorland VLOGS before Christmas 2023, when they were putting up videos everyday. One interesting thing I learned is that the king of their big gator pond is actually a Nile Crocodile named Lyle. He is noticeably larger and lighter colored than the alligators. They seem to get along for the most part, but Lyle is the boss.

They're mimicking behavior you'd see in the wild. It's a symbiotic relationship where the gators at times do eat the birds, as well as catching a snack that falls from trees. Meanwhile the birds get the protection from other predators, such as raccoons etc., as the gators provide. Basically acting as a natural security guard.

Marie: Welcome to Florida. What was making you feel like pressure on you was the high humidity from all the moisture in the air. It’s a different feeling (sometimes uncomfortable for those in Florida for the first time) that one gets gradually acclimated to the longer you’re here. I’m glad you got to visit Gatorland , and the Pirate’s Dinner Adventure. I’ve enjoyed them both over the years. Hope you get a chance to see the Everglades and the Florida Keys, 2 areas which will show you the real beauty of Florida. I really enjoyed this video.😎👍👍👍

As a multi-generation native Floridian glad to see you enjoying Orlando - specifically, Gatorland and the Pirates Dinner Theater. I live in Orlando and old home week as immediately recognized baggage claim, and jaw dropped in segment where plane was landing with the low approach to runway C and saw the Goldenrod street exit sign - I'm at the other end of Goldenrod. Yes, the humidity can be a shock initially, but suspect you adjusted within a day or so. I grew up without air conditioning - and the original Mustangs didn't even offer as an option! Really looking forward to other sites you visit. There is so much.

Hey Marie 😃 🌅 🐊 Bringing in the New Year with rays of sunshine to keep the winter blues at bay. Woah!! It's a Gators paradise , how amazing that it's grown from just a roadside attraction to wot it is now that's American ingenuity at it's best. It's wild that there's so many , something to see how still they are one moment & snap so suddenly the next , good thing there well fed , they've got it made. You didn't seem phased a bit , I guess if you were moving there your soon get used to them roaming around basking , in neighbours swimming pools & under trucks , anyway you can always call a wrangler to tape their noozle up & safely release them. Maybe you've seen how much some people like wrestling Gators like it's their hobby , Mike Dragich , a veteran & MMA fighter back in may near an elementary school comes to mind. You could've volunteered as a rookie at the park tackling them to( check out solo travel girl ' Jennifer A Huber ' from 2015 ) but knowing your sweet nature you wouldn't want to pester or harm them. It's unexpected & interesting to come across any albinos , it doesn't seem like there bullyed like other (herd) animals in the wild. It's cute seeing the little 🐢 turtle face ( hopefully yours is doing okay out of the cold) the baby alligators chillin & they'll be let loose before too long. It's awesome that there's a Croc named Dundee , he looks like a old timer , how can you tell , thankfully he'll never meet the same fate as Mick's 👢 It's funny how the 🦝 sure do get around never letting anything go to waste. I like that it's also family friendly so kids can over come any fears. It was definitely worth checking out , I'm glad theirs such sanctuary's free from those who Hunt them for profit , with over 1.3 million they wont be disappearing anytime soon , after all they did survive that asteroid along with birds that wiped out most of the dinosaurs. Yeah! Mustang spotting , looks like the dream one you've after. Florida's so cool for cruising & showing off , theirs a buzz in the air living there that charges you up . When your stateside again you should check out Buc- ees , it comes highly recommended , I wanna buy you one of their marvelous 🧢 for your collection. Ahoy 💣🏴‍☠️ Yo , ho , ho & a bottle of rum , the high seas are where me Heart - y it be A Swashbuckling life Galore for me , Arrgh ! How Spectacular , the dramatic music & lighting really set the scene , the high rolling acrobat's were so enjoyable , what more could you want , a show that had it all even a fiery dragon & a gorgeous 🧜 , it's great that you all got to join in to. All the food looked yummy enough , they need to include some themed flag chocolate cake , spicy cannon meat balls , fruit ships & where are the biscuits that pirates always eat , that would probably cost more, i don't know if they served any grog , you can always make your own pirate punch cocktails if your having a dress up party with the same vibe at home. Let the good times roll , another wonderful trip I'm glad you'll discovered more of what Florida 🛣️ has to offer & theirs going to be more happy memories to come. On a extra note , I recently found out about the health cardiovascular benefits ( spike proteins) of Japanese Nattokinas , try adding it to your diet , it's in the health , beauty & well being section 📍or just look up global healing & the wellness company yourself. Merci beaucoup including the recent Facebook yummy cholat 🥐 pics , green really suits you , fare thee well Marie lass , fair winds , God bless my matey 🤗 💫 🧡✌️

On the other hand I've been in Kenya, Zimbabwe and Egypt, and Arizona with high heat and it is much more comfortable. In fact Kenya never really got that hot. The only part of that country that gets the high humidity heat is Mombasa on the coast, which I have never been to.

Yup. A lot of people in Europe don't understand the U.S.'s love/hate relationship with a/c. A hot day in the summer in London or Paris might be 90°F. Pretty much every day in the summer here is over 90, with more and more humidity the further south you go. I used to live in a small town in Montana where it'd stay in the 100's as a daily high in the summer. The state record high in Montana is 117 degrees F. It's miserably hot here most places in the summer. Of course, you have people that prefer the heat here too. I most definitely do not number in that crowd.

So glad you had a good time here in Florida. But as others have commented already -- August!!!! No!! Come here in January, when you can see the weather report about the blizzards and polar vortices up north while sitting outside on a patio in shorts and t-shirt having a drink. We pay our dues April to October, then reap the reward November to March. BTW, I hope you considered/will visit the non-touristy parts of the state. Only 40 miles from Orlando is Merritt Island National Wildlife refuge, where (in January) you can see millions of migratory birds, and yes, gators (sans enclosures).

Gatorland sure has changed since 1981....used to be a few short elevated walkways and swamps...They used to have a stuffed 20' gator in the entrance lobby.

My family and I went to Florida for our first time about the same time you were there. The heat and humidity were unbearable.

Not all adventures are comfortable, even for seasoned travelers ;-) Alligators are no longer endangered. Alligator meat is interesting. Dinner theater is quite fun.

It's the high humidity, that feels like an elephant is sitting on your chest. There are several southern states feel like that, to varying degrees. I'm from the western US (more arid environment), and I've experienced the same thing before, flying from here, into one of the southern states. That jet door opens, and you feel the proverbial elephant crushing your lungs. The difference between the two environments is quite noticeable, via flying, vs that of driving, where you have time to adapt along the way.

Hey Marie if you ever plan on coming to the Midwest I’ve got a spare house u could stay in and I’d be glad to show you some of the things to do here. Also I have a truck you can use while ur here too. So if u ever come let me know, the best time would be like June to September.

Florida in August can be oppressive. Anywhere in the South. As you move inland, further from the ocean, the temperature goes up.

That Florida humidity will melt you! What did you eat at the Pirate show? By the way, I loved your Popeyes video but for a great American chicken sandwich you should also go to Chick-Fil-A
