I just discovered Headhunterz & Hardstyle a few weeks ago. Was watching a Defqon 1 vid, and Headhunterz had just come back to Hardstyle. I was 3 hours into discovering the genre and just got hit with a wave of emotions. Watching the 'earthquake' during the Power Hour was so amazing. This is definitely one of my favourite genres of music now, I'm absolutely getting involved. Haven't been this excited about music since I discovered hardcore punk music at the turn of the century. I was originally into gabber, goa, psy and happy hardcore in the 90's. Returning to this, apparently after the 'golden age' of hardstyle has been liberating. I wanna go to all the festivals. Seeing ur reaction to this is exactly what I experienced and I need to experience it live.

Watching you react to hardstyle is the best thing I know. Thanks for making these and nice that you are liking it so much!

Scott.. just so you know.. Headhunterz/Willem is like the god/king of hardstyle. He already makes the music for such a long time and if you want to see his more older music, you should check out his 2 hour set: The Return Of Headhunterz. Heady took a break for a couple of years from making music and when he started making music again he did this show and it was literally his "return" back to hardstyle.

Hey man wanted to let you know the structure of these tracks, usually it will go mid-intro (sounds unique or diff to the bulk of the track) ---> Break/Melody/build-up ---> Climax (melody with pitched kicks) ---> Break/2nd Melody ---> 2nd climax (1st melody usually tweaked for variation) ---> mid-outro (similar to intro with elements from climaxes, but use first kicks you hear) ---> transitions to next song - The kicks you really are liking are "psy" style kicks (sub zero project brought that sound to the scene) - you also really seem to like Reverse Basslines! let me know if you have questions!

The track starting at 13:51 and ending at 15:47 is Builder - Her Voice (Super Bass Remix), and it's actually a classic. The "drops" back when that track was made were usually like that, where the melody in the breaks just continued on but with a kick under it.

Headhunterz very early in the scene was a duo but they went their separate ways.

Maybe this could help you: subgenres of Hardstyle: Rawstyle and Euphoric, Euphoric is more melodic and chill tracks like Wasted Penguinz, Rawstyle harder kicks and not focused on melodies (not always, but hard kicks always) Radical Redemption or Rebelion for example. :)

Interesting Fact: You're partially right about Headhunterz being a duo, as in the past Headhunterz was a duo between Willem and his friend Bobby van Putten, and before the name "Headhunterz" came about they were known as the "Nasty D-Tuners". However, in the years since, Willem took on the Headhunterz name as a solo act.

You should definitely choose Da Tweekaz for the next time. They are crazy! Their hard music is just kinda happy, rogue and motivational style. You won't regret. Greetings from Spain!

Drops are called climaxes mate ;) The first drop you said is "like hardcorish". It's called a midintro and in hardstyle most tracks are with a intro then midintro as the first climax, then a break, climax, break, climax, mid outro, outro. Great vid!
