This is my first time ever taking part in a complete Touring Car Race Day with a fully race prepared car. If you follow the channel you’ll know I’ve attended Ulster Model Car Club a few times in the past, I’ve always either arrived after first qualifying or missed practice as I’m bodging a repair to an unprepared vehicle. This time I really wanted to give it my best shot, I sat up until 03:30 the morning of race day getting all my kit in order and checking the car making sure I’d be ready to get some practice in prior to qualifying.
UMCC is Northern Ireland’s oldest running Model Car Club, established in 1984 running 1/10th Scale Off Road Buggies on their very own grass track, 40 years later they are still going strong with TWO venues to race at, in winter they run at Wellington College on a high grip carpet track that club volunteers have to build and dismantle every race day, in the summer however, it’s a different story altogether…. The club has their very own purpose built tarmac track located in Ballymoney at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre (somewhere I’ve never raced but plan to this year)
Join me to see if I can transfer my Off Road Racing skills to an ON Road Race Track!
