It's NOT about the money, and most people wouldn't understand it. Many people talking smack about just pay someone to do it, but it's about accomplishment, pride and dignity that you did it manually by hand. You earned my RESPECT guy.

Is that the true? And they will NEVER understand why we do what we do. YES , you could go DOWN STREET and have them charge you $15/tire and get it over with? BUT THAT’S WHERE “THEY” DON’T GET IT.

It's off topic but not many people can get why I'm going to the wrecking yard without buying anything . The answer is: I'm practicing [new for me] removal and installation procedures, taking parts apart to see what's inside (example - electronic throttle body); I also like to dismantle failed parts to find what caused them to fail. These activities are beyond the comprehension of copy and paste experts with fake degrees in mechanical engineering

@@hugos.5059 No way I would do this. I like to work on my own car (within my limits, of course) but I don't mess with tire mounting/balancing. And at $15-$25 per tire, I would rather just pay someone else to do it. It's not done that often anyways and from the looks of it, a ton of work when you don't have the nice equipment....

More than 20 years ago I saw a junk yard visitor who was able to dismount the 75 aspect ratio tire from the steel rim using nail puller like looking tool (about 2 inch wide, 12 inch long ) and 3 pounds short handled sledge. He kept the wheel in vertical position and drove tool under the bead with sledge.
