I was a bit scared, today was my first time riding a motorbike in Bangkok, but I survived. I have been putting off riding a motorcycle in Bangkok, Thailand as it is very dangerous. Today I bring you along as I go shopping for a motorbike helmet and gloves, try some tasty street food and experience the mayhem of riding a scooter on the crazy streets of Bangkok. It was so much fun! As a rider of 30+ years, I can tell you that riding in Bangkok is not for the timid. I really enjoyed riding this Yamaha NMAX 155 motorbike through the streets of Bangkok, what a thrill!

Hi, I am 15 years old driving in Bangkok. I had a restaurant and I did delivery for 5 years… So, I think I know the bike pretty well here. For Bangkok your scooter is too big (Sneaking Hard) Do like everyone else, get a Cab 125 Honda. => 40 000 Bath (about 1200 euro) I had a superb 500cc Honda bike like custom, verry nice bike. I never took it out (in Bangkok), because using the 125 is much more practical in Bangkok. However, I am 1.90 m and 100 Kgs... A new model with injection, you do 100-110 Km'h without problem. I only took the 500 out one weekend a month to go to Bang sein. sorry, I only know the metric system

@RIRI-el6xm I was riding an NMAX 155, not a big scooter. I’m going to be doing trips, so I’m gonna be buying either a Honda ADV 150, or the new 160. It’s perfectly fine for Bangkok traffic.

@@LifewithSerg I'm not talking in terms of power but size, width and weight. Abolutly not I think, you need more sharp for Trafic Jaming. What is the best for bangkok is That kzfaq.info/get/bejne/edmbZaiLnK2xoIU.html&ab_channel=Bodensee-Biker After I just give you my experience, you do what you want. In my opinion, you are making the mistake that all the Farang who do not have the experience of Bangkok. Another point, the lighter your bike, the less kinetic energy you will have in the event of a crash. And crashes, we often have them here. To survive, there are a few rules, Small motorcycle, speed corresponds to sight, never overtake with a large differential (30 Kh'm 40 maximum), never trust, the Thais have neither mirrors, nor indicators, nor angle death), never stop at a crossroads, especially in front of a truck that will slide without seeing you to fit in, always have your foot on the brake, and pay close attention to the level of U-Turns that a guy does don't cut you off. Of course, red lights are not a guarantee of being able to pass without being hit. Now if you want to come home in a plastic bag, Or with $70,000 in Samutivej medical bills. You are free, LOL ! I talked to someone from Norway who's driven motorcycles for many many years, and he told me he prefers driving in Thailand simply because people are so much more aware and used to being in traffic with bikes. And honestly I think he has a point. It looks crazy, and accidents do certainly happen, but there is some sort of accepted chaos on the streets here in Thailand, and especially BKK I guess. Not sure I want to call it organized chaos, but at least accepted chaos. XD

I'm from Germany and I have experience riding in Thailand / Bangkok. I totally agree with what you've heard. There are some people who are totally crazy and they make riding / driving quite dangerous but the majority is quite okay. At least for me it's more relaxing, once you are used to the Thai traffic, than in Germany. Traffic is with other people there instead of against other people like in many other countries.

Sketch me, but you smoke dope or what? Thailand is the same size and population of France. In France where his conduct is really bad (especially with the North Africans who think they are in Morocco and drive like in the country) France however has only 4500 deaths per year In Thailand, it's 27,000, including 17,000 on motorcycles... Thailand is one of the worst countries in the world in terms of danger, especially for motorcyclists. On the street where I lived, you had a biker who killed by week. And I know very well, I lived in Bangkok for 7 years, drove in Thailand for 15 years and had a restaurant for five years, so often on the road to make deliveries. You can't even imagine how many crazy things I've seen And the number of accidents on my counter. In addition, the cement roads are very slippery here and for motorcycles, it's clearly a headache. Most of the Thai people don't have a license, and the license here is a joke, the Thais do anything, it's worse than in Russia,

I took to riding a motorbike in Bangkok almost 20 years ago I was living with my girlfriend (future wife) in their restaurant in Bang Yai, and it was really far from Bangkok. I ask if they couldn't take me to Bangkok There my stepfather shows me the keys to the scooter on the fridge I tell him I don't have the permit, the whole family bursts out laughing... I tell them I don't know how to drive, (the whole family burst out laughing again) And the stepfather says to me, you just have to learn, manage yourself. I learned, but the hard way, a lot of scar after 15 years of driving in Bangkok, a lot of scar and scare, but hey, Ah and my stepfather almost killed his girlfriend on a motorbike and lost three of his five children in traffic accidents in Thailand. Thailand is the same size as my country, we do 4,500 reincarnations a year on the roads, the Thais do 27,000. Super Dangerous, But it's still super fun. Because Thailand is the best country in the world.

@@adz6539 my country of birth is France, but not my origin, I no longer live at all, I can't stand this country. I no longer support the European and particularly French or Anglo-Saxon spirit. That said, France is 550,000 km and 68 million inhabitants, Thailand is 525,000 km and 70 million inhabitants. The comparison is therefore easy. And at the road level, France turns at 4,500 and Thailand at 27,000 per year (Approximately, it changes from one year to another) Thailand is in the top 3 of the most dangerous roads in the world (with 2 African countries that have armed road cutters) Even Russia, Russia with Blizzard and Vodka, it's better... MDR. I survived here 15 years it's a miracle. Even when I spend my days on the roads on a motorcycle kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qM-Ihdx43cyYaI0.html&ab_channel=CyberChaosCrew

Like you said when you turned on red, just do what the locals do. I'm returning my rental car in Penang tomorrow and picking up a motorbike. I'm a motorcyclist from the US as well, but I've never ridden a semi-automatic 155cc beast before (I sold my Tenere 700 in August when we moved overseas). Also, that chaos in Bangkok definitely works. It doesn't look like it should work, but it took me about 90 seconds of watching traffic at the Asok station to determine that small motorbikes are the only way to get around on Bangkok's roads. Keep up the awesome content, man.
@LifewithSerg

You'll find the furthest left lane on the road are always empty, cause they all just passing through, even within an intersection without a dedicated turn left lane. So. The first time I was in Thailand I looked at the traffic and thought could be compared to suicide. Then I learned some important, unwritten rules and now I feel quite safe and comfortable to ride or drive over there. You need to know when it's okay to push it a bit and when it's time to back down. Hi Serg thanks for the City travel and shopping, with culinary impressions Video. It seems you drove a bit to quickly through the traffic. The traffic isn't very dangerous if you take care. I drove also in Italy Milano, Rome, in Nairobi and on the Highway in Kenya. I drove in my Holidays over 2500 Kilometer through Thailand. I don't understand why people scare the traffic in Thailand. 5:15 😋 bring back a good memory 8:40 Not sure if it is still the same but from what I remember, the traffic on the left always goes through in Thailand. 10:48 That road if I remember it correctly, it is one of the failed experimental one-way road systems in Bangkok from many years ago. Maybe more than 30 years ago or something like that. It didn't work out the way they wanted it to be and they didn't turn it back to a standard 2-way street, instead, they turned it into what you see which I don't know what it is. Last: Again I am not sure if it is still the same today as when I was in Thailand 20 years ago. People there drink, drive, and die a lot during Songkran. To be safe, try not to drive during Songkran.

Great video. I love riding scooters in Thailand and have been doing so for twenty years. Unfortunately I have no drivers license so can do so only on the islands where there aren't many cops around. In cities they lie in wait for people like me with a 500-1,000 baht fine. Rather frustratingly I'm quite confident I'm safer on Thai roads than your average car driver who turns up for a week or two and hires a scooter.
