Come along with me as I shoot my first roll of Kodak Gold in 120. I'm shooting with the Mamiya M645J, and will take you through my thought process on shooting one roll of film.
This roll was developed and scanned by Legacy Photo Lab in Fort Worth, Texas.

@@zddlg_film True. Later I used the ProTL bodies, which are amazing, but the shutter on the ProTLs has a tendency to get stuck. TheM645 never did.

enjoyed the video. that's the mamiya 645. the 645j is another version that lacks the shutter release button on top and lacks the mirror lock-up switch. there's also another version - mamiya 645 1000s. enjoyed, thanks!

Thanks so much for checking it out!!! Yeah, I had been calling that camera the J for a long time because the manual that I was given with it was for the J, and so I just went along with it. Definitely want to upgrade to the 1000s at some point down the line, but I overall love this camera.

on that camera, to get a 16th frame you need to crank one full revolution past 15, it will make a noise and start to free spin, stop there and switch the camera into ‘multi’ which allows you to crank the shutter and take another shot. then switch back from multi so you can finish winding the roll.

Great shots man! just slight recommendation, adding the red boarders for the pictures is a bit distracting, especially for color shots. If you do white or grey it allows for the picture to be the main subject. The concept really comes from when you mat artwork. You don’t want the mat to distract from the pictures. I think your shots are great but you lose impact when the boarder is also taking your attention. Cheers!

Glad you like them! Thank you for the feedback. I personally have chosen to add backgrounds to each video that matches the tone of the photos. Especially on some of my more casual videos, I think I will continue to do so. I understand exactly what you’re saying though, and will probably have some of my more serious videos be matted in white.

Thank you so much!!! I actually should have a new video dropping tomorrow. No night scenes, but I’m gonna be shooting the rodeo at night next week on Cinestill and I’m super excited.
