My son and I went to our first auction ever. There was so much great stuff there, but there were a lot of other people there looking for great stuff too! It was a cool experience, but I don't think I will look for more auctions. I would spend too much money.

It's so easy to get caught up in the thrill of bidding! You got some good stuff! The $10 milk crate had some treasures!

That 3/8" flex head ratchet is the bomb. I use the 1/2" version as my lug wrench. Last year one went to auction and I thought I would get it for 10 bucks or something.....I was way off....$65 bucks! Since that time I've been checking and they are expensive. You've done super well!

That a great haul for $70. I was able to score a couple drill this weekend, a Ridged and Milwaukee electric. Have a good week you did good.

Fantastic, that was great value for money in the auction in the right place at the right time. You were meant to bring those home great video those three aluminium older powered tools will polish are fantastic and would look great on a display wall.

Those Norseman Brad Point bits are for wood holes. They are quite expensive, and the best quality.

I assumed they must be for wood. Sweet that they are the nest quality! I will try to limit their use to only wood projects in the drill press. Thank you for the comment and THANKS FOR WATCHING! 👍😁😎

The TAPCON bits are for the blue masonry screws you have. You drill hole first then insert the screw

Enjoy father and son activities while you can. There were some very cool items there. I stopped going to our local auctions years ago because the auctioneer had a couple of shills. We used the Leroy sets for doing ink drawings 50 years ago. Nice haul and video. Good Luck, Rick

Thanks Rick! My son and I have been working on my 1971 Chevy Nova this weekend and it has been bowing very well. It is a watershed moment because my son is doing the work and I am being the gofer i stead of the other way around! I am blessed to have a son who shows as much interest in old things as I do. He is 14 and we recently bought his first car so he can get working on it. Its a 1975 Jeep! Thanks for watching! 👍😁😎

@@timeflysintheshopCongrats, you created an intelligent young man. I started my son at age twelve with a garden tractor. This was simple and inexpensive but he learned the principles of how vehicles work and how easy it is to fix them. He then got to spend many hours driving it around our woods. I wanted to get him away from video games and it worked until he graduated college. Now he plays games too much. One of my projects this year is my 1985 Chevy C-10. I built up my shop many years ago and can do most anything. If the economy tanks, I can still rebuild engines. Good Luck, Rick

@@richardross7219 Thanks Rick! I hope you are right! He has a lot of interests competing for his time and attention including video games, but thankfully he tends to dabble in new technologies long enough to understand them, and moves on. He is our IT guy at home. He has several 3D printers, and game systems including an Oculus, but he definitely spends more time in his shop than playing games.

That was a good buy. I could walk around an auction like that all day, can't get my head around the auctioneers, they talk way too fast for my brain to understand, guess that's the idea😁. Love the last last 3 power tools, a good clean will sort them out👍🏻

As it was my first auction, I did not bid on anything right away as I had to really focus to understand how it was all working. It was such a big place to sell everything, they had two auctioneers going at the same time. I could not be in both places at the same time, so I had to choose what stuff I was more likely to bid on. I felt guilty about being there, but I had a good conversation with the widow about the man who died and so I hope my being there was worth more than the money I spent.

Yes I am a fan of drafting and lettering since I had it in highschool for three years, but although I have an awesome old drafting table from the 1930's, it has model trains on it and I just don't have the space to do manual drafting. I do CAD for a living, so I will never use that stuff. I suppose I can keep it all with the old table for someday, even if that someday is when they move on together to someone else. Thanks for the comment and THANKS FOR WATCHING! 👍😁😎

That was a great deal- I can’t go to tag sales or auctions they depress me horribly. Flea markets and tractor shows all day long…. 😃👍

I agree with you! The reason I have never been to an auction like this, is because it feels like vultures fighting over the bones of the dead. I do feel a bit guilty about being there, but I did meet and speak with the widow for a little while. I expressed my condolences and asked about her dearly departed. I told her that based on the stuff he collected and used, he must have been an interesting fellow that I am sure I would have enjoyed spending time with. She told me how smart he was and how he knew so much about everything. I thanked her for sharing her memories and for letting my son help out with the quads. So I hope my being there was worth more the the money I spent on some old stuff. This auction came along more or less by fate, and I plan to leave my auction attendance to fate. I will not be looking or watching for auctions in the future, but if we end up at one by fate, I will keep an eye out for an opportunity to be more than a vulture.

As far as I can tell, that piece on back side of the Milwaukee is a tool rest to set the grinder down while it is slowing down rpm's. Looks like there was a design change between the 6020 models which have your bracket, and the 6060, some of which have a flat hard plastic or rubber bracket. I have a 7" Milwaukee grinder (a bit newer model) from a sale, but it is really too big for me to handle comfortably. So far as estate sales, I look at them as part of the circle of life, and know that some day there will be an awesome opportunity for a new generation to pick through a stash of nearly all USA made tools.

That is the scary part of auctions.....you don't need much money to get a truck load. I looked up when the spring equipment auction was going to be....I missed it by a week......safe. I love auctions but skipping one now helps me try and catch up a little.
