I motocamped alone on a 35 day trip from Atlanta to Seward Alaska and back 7 years ago. It was so amazing traveling the Alaska Hwy thru the Yukon Territory. I spent 30 of the 35 nights in a tent much like yours. Only 5 nights in a hotel. I stayed in RV campgrounds or provincial parks in Canada along the way. I met many other like minded adventurers and even rode with 2 retired California Hwy Patrol officers for several days. An adventure if a lifetime for sure! Thanks for the great videos.

With the snow and temperatures you ride in, that 8r pad will be very handy! Great stuff! I have that same bag and love it. I would suggest looking into a camping chair and table for a little bit of comfort after a long day

I'm hoping so! No fun being cold at night. I've actually got a Tusk chair which will be super nice but a I think a table will be extremely important too.

I keep the same gear in my jeeps when I go out. I'm glad it'll transfer over to the motorcycle world

Regarding the sleeping mat. What you called a compression bag is not only that, more important it is a pump bag for inflating the mat.

Wow! That gear is all too notch! I've been researching camping gear for a while now, and that big Agnes tent is one of the best, along with that pad, inflator and light! Looking forward to seeing your camping content!

Moto camping is Great. This summer I went from Montana to Alaska & Arctic Circle. Sleeping pad-I suggest inflatable & a foam as back up. My inflatable failed during trip. Tent-attach top to poles first or like many yu will break a pole.

It's nice to see how excited you are and that you already learned some lessons with cheap gear. I was a backpacker-hiker guy for years, so I already had a lot of stuff when I got my TW-200. One of my treasured bits of gear is my candle lantern. There is something comforting about a tiny flame that gives off a fair amount of light when you are all alone in the dark of the forest. The little tea-light candle burns for hours too.

I picked up the same sleeping bag a few weeks ago. There is a pocket in the hood for your camping pillow so it doesn’t move around on you

No update from last year's riding season; that's elsewhere? To save weight, space in the bags/panniers (ick!) while perversely increasing room sheltered from the weather, forgo tents and learn to camp the infantry way: under a shelter half (a fly to those in the civilian world). I use a very inexpensive 14'x14' silnylon fly (they make them smaller and bigger) I bought from that online Kmart of camping, 'Camping World' or something like that. A fly - NOT a groundsheet, which is a very different and heavier technology. The fly I purchased and used is pretty much exactly the same material as the flies sold for two three times the price by one of the big name backpacking equipment companies i.e. Kelty. For maximum space and viewing the surroundings pitch it high; if the weather gets ugly, pitch it low to the ground, using your bike seat as your ridgepole. Your bike, you, and your equipment can cook and sleep under it out of the rain in any kind of weather. For mosquitoes and black flies, a bug bar (mosquito net) gets hung in and under the fly. Did shelter half "camping" from almost the arctic to almost the equator in 30 years jumping out of airplanes in the airborne: it works, and I've been doing the same dual sport touring (and backpacking) since I learned this. Sleeping bags: to increase the lifetime (and cleanliness) along with the warmth of your sleeping gear, put on a base layer of underwear with a high neck as well as a toque on your head - and socks prior to going to ground. It's easy to change and launder your bedsheets at home once a week by throwing them in the washing machine. Not so easy with sleeping bags - especially down sleeping bags - especially after a day of sweaty riding and no shower at the end of the day. You don't want all that sweat, body oils, dirt, etc getting from your body to your sleeping bag inner and the filling. Depending on the weather, I usually put on thin lightweight merino wool long underwear (expected colder weather: heavier weight silk underwear). The advantage with thin merino wool is that you can stop at a creek or something similar while riding and give it a two or three minute wash in the running water; bungee it on top of your gear (or hang it to dry during meal breaks) and it will dry in a very short time period, you can keep it pretty clean for wearing inside your sleeping bag for the entire length of your ride. The thickness and type of material will affect how much your sleep underwear increases the R value of your sleeping bag. And of course, if it's really cold you can wear it while riding under your normal riding jacket and pants.

After viewing tens of camping gear video's, I've come to one conclusion; all these travelers NEVER poop during their trip! (I never find toilet paper on their list...) Or do they secretly use the bathroom at the entrance of a Hilton hotel, like I used to? 🙂
