Tbh I think most Africans who live abroad are actually rich asf in their home country. My family is from Guinea. In America, we're just everyday people. But in Guinea we have a big house with fruit trees and a pool. 😂

@@princess_ama same but my mom's family house is now a school and my dad's is rented to a French Embassy . Both my parents came from very wealthy families but on my mother side her siblings , cousins and there spouses basically wasted all the money after her parents died and my dad's side were Nobel's but lost most of there wealth when communism rose. There are still pretty wealthy but my mom hates them and thinks there snobby. Both my parent live in London my dad became a engineer so we do alright but everyone we visit Ethiopia I feel boojie.

Princess Ama lucky you!! this is news to me tho my parents have nothing in Ethiopia 😭 as my siblings and I are getting older I keep trying to push them into getting a foothold back home but 🥴I feel like you gotta navigate finances hella smart when you’re abroad in order to be able to sustain urself + family while building for yourself back home so I really admire people like your fam who have managed to do that 🤩

the weirdos okayyy I see u diaspora tujar 😂😂😍 People whose families have been living in Addis for awhile are doing well cuz all the diplomats and businesses want property in the city center. I have an uncle who had a basic ass house with land in Haya Hulet (imagine!!!!!) sold it for millions like 5ish years ago now his family living off properties they rent out. Part of me wants to find a way to build capital like that so I’ll have a foothold in ethiopia but idkkkk 😭😭

Maaaaan Im 99.9% sure I got PTSD from the roundabouts in Addis....and that Habesha dad dance was everything 😂😂😂😂💀. Thanks for sharing, cant wait to visit the "highlands" again!

I was adopted from Ethiopia from Norway. I have visited many times, and it always feels so good when I am with my own people. The only downside is the fact that I do not speak amharic.
