You could technically glide all the way down if the angle of the ground is the same slope as your angle/slope of sliding/descending. Kind of like those Olympic ski jumpers, they fly through long distances and land on ski ramp at an angle. But that's all theory. Doing it is another thing :P

Congrats that’s a hell of a first base/wing jump. How many flights out of the plane did you have prior to this base?
@Arrica1012 жыл бұрын
Generally you do at least 200 jumps before you first put on a wingsuit, after that I'm not sure. But I imagine most people would be looking to do around another 200 wingsuit skydives and a whole bunch of basejumps before doing a wingsuit base jump. It's been a while since I was on the skydiving scene so my knowledge is a bit rusty
@IAnonymous32 жыл бұрын
@@Arrica101 right.. not skydiving…. Wingsuitting. Lot of pilots I know won’t BASE jump so I’m curious how many flights out the plane before going to base. I wander what the “normal” number is, I’ve no idea ..
@nickb59452 жыл бұрын
@@IAnonymous3 Wingsuiting out of a plane is skydiving. It's just one of the many disciplines of skydiving. And wingsuit base-jumping is just one of the many disciplines of BASE jumping. You can do both sports without ever wingsuiting if you choose, but normally no base jumping without a fair amount of skydiving first. And normally no wingsuit base with a fair amount of wingsuit skydiving first. This wasn't his first wingsuit basejump, it was just the first time off this particular mountain. Normal experience requirement to wingsuit skydive is after minimum 200 skydives. Normal experience before BASE jumping is also 200 skydives, but that's more suggested than required. And normally one would do minimum 100 wingsuit skydives and minimum 100 BASE jumps before deciding to wingsuit basejump. And then 50 or so wingsuit base jumps before flying this close to the mountain. It's a long, fun journey getting to this point. Steady progression is the best way to do it safely, and cutting corners often lead to completely avoidable injuries.
@IAnonymous32 жыл бұрын
@@nickb5945 why I was wandering everyone does it differently. Friends that have done 4/500 wingsuit jumps and never and won’t ever do wingsuit base. @@IAnonymous3 I did about 100 skydives then went and got professional training at a bridge in ID from someone that teaches BASE jumping every day. I started flying a tracking suit between 100 and 200 jump. No wings but fills up with air and allows you to travel farther. Then did some jumps out of a balloon with the tracking suit. Had about 30 BASE jumps when I went to Norway in 2015 to jump off a large cliff. I got 12 jumps there. Started flying a wingsuit at 200 skydives. Found talented wingsuit BASE flyers to mentor me. Flew my wingsuit from a balloon in my BASE rig. Went to Italy with my mentor in 2016 and did my first several wingsuit BASE jumps. Went back to Europe in 2017, 2018. Had 2 trips planned in 2019 but had to cancel both due to covid. This was my first year back after a 2 year hiatus but tons of wingsuit flying from planes. Going back in September this year for a heliboogie (helicopter take you to top of mountain) in the Dolomites.
