I really enjoyed your eight pen questions. I loved that you answered how many pens you have. I think it is super interesting how many pens different people have. I have only been into fountain pen 🖋️ for six months and I have 10 pens already and I am going to the Chicago Pen Show the first weekend in May so look out! Thanks for sharing your questions with us. It was super fun!❤

Love this.. I have too many pens and feel I don't rotate through them enough so in 2024 that is something I'd like to do. Girl, I am with ya on the BPC inks... Addicted! I don't have a grail pen, but have wanted to try out a Platinum 3776, Sailor PGS/PG, Pelikan and Pilot 823. So that is my goal at the Chicago Pen Show.

Loved this video! Forty-seven is not too many, in my opinion! My goal right now is no more than 24 because that's what my pen box holds, but unfortunately, I discovered you can buy more little cases and I tend not to count the pens in those! Lol. So in addition to my 24 main pens I also have my "penabling case" and my "going out of the house case" for those beginner pens that, like you, I don't worry about scratching or losing.

It all began on the day when my ballpoint pen mysteriously ran dry during my HTML final exam on which I had to sketch the whole website and provide the full HANDWRITTEN code.

I'm so happy to hear your responses. It's cool that you got penabled by your boyfriend, and I hope you share more about your Estie Winter White! It's so pretty!! I don't know much about Pelikan, but after watching all of these 8penquestions videos, it seems like it is quite a beloved pen. I'm interested to hear your thoughts about it when you receive it! :)

I did this tag a few days ago. I have the same feeling. I want to try it ALL! I have only bought one BPC ink so far, but I LOVE it so I am going to try and get a lot of samples to try them all out.

I love your 8 questions. The limit on pens is so true because I want to use all my pens. I don’t have 40 but it is increasing every day. 😅. So, I can’t anyone. My holy grail is the Etsie Raven. I hoping to get it in the future.

I’ve been using fountain pens and inks for years but only just started to really think about collecting. I already have a wish list that I’ll never be able to afford 😂 Where are the best places to look for pre-loved pens? Also where is best to swap ink? I bought a bottle of dominant industry snowfield and it’s just not my colour, so rather than it gather dust, it would be good to send to a good home 😊

I personally look on Ebay for pre-loved pens, but Truphae has some as well. What Year did you start your Fountain Pen Journey ?? I missed that ? 13:03..Judge me, and show me your true colors...lol ....I've been on this journey for only 4 months (Jan 2024) and am reaching 50 fountain pens..My goal is , I have a $2,ooo.oo budget, to get as many Budget fountain pens , I can find. I got only $400 more to spend...and I am done , with my Pen collection...LOL

I have a goal of trying an ink from each brand. I really prefer to get samples. If I find I am buying a sample more then once and really love it. then Ill buy a bottle but like you mentioned space is a consideration. I also dont want ink going bad while it waits for me to make it through a bottle. I have 60 pen case from Galen but I keep the "cheap " pens out of the count. I also have a case that was designed for the Kaweco sport pens. At the time I thought noway will I need space for more the 60 fountain pens plus the 14 case for the Kaweco. But Im currently at full capacity. Im ok with it now, because i look at it as a collection . I use all my pens on rotation. I use alot of inks every month so I use alot of pens every month. And Im ok with dumping ink out of a pen at the end of the month. Otherwise how are we going to try out all the inks. lol.. 😊

Imo, never be afraid to use a pen. My pelikan m800 goes on my pocket, sometimes visconti homosapiens, high end pilots, etc. Use them up. Otherwise, why have them. Also, pelikans from japan on ebay brand new are super affordable

Thank you so much for sharing thid video! Its like you read my mind. I'm wondering about your first "expensive" pen. I'm thinking about getting an Edison or an Esterbrook Estie but am totally unsure and won't necessarily have a chance to try them out before buying. Have you tried them both? Also, how do you choose a nib size? I've been sticking to F/EF but am curious about M and Broad, especially as a leftie. 😊

So glad this was helpful! My first expensive pen was a Pilot Vanishing Point Decimo. I use it all the time still. I haven't tried an Edison but I love my Esties. I would watch some review videos online and try to see how they look in hands that seem close to yours. Sometimes pens can be much smaller/bigger than they seem. For the Nib size it's purely preference. As a lefty you can still use broader nibs but you may need to use blotting paper. I'm right handed so I'm not the best to speak on advice for this. I will say, I choose nibs I like to write with the most and only have a couple or broads/stubs. I write small so fine is usually my go to. I like medium for showing ink and for a little bolder writing, and broads/stubs are fun for headers or if you like to write on a larger scale. Happy to see your fountain pen journey grow Aubrey!

@@mydandeliondiaries Thank you! This is super helpful and basically what I did. I ended up ordering the Edison in the limited edition that just released today from Atlas Stationers. I used your affiliate code and was able to save 10%, which was amazing. I chose an extra fine nib because the nib is German, so I think it might be wider than my TWISBIs or Pilots. I found it interesting that the broad nib was the first to sell out and that the extra fine is currently the only one that is left in stock. I did take a risk because I like to post my pens and this pen doesn't post, but I'm super excited. I still haven't ruled out also getting an Estie 😮😁. I'm also eyeing the new TWISBI that's coming out in caffe and bronze ....does this make me greedy? 🫢

The Birmingham Pen Company pink ink is called Magnolia Mirage if that is the one you are referring to :) It has AMAZING shading!

@@mydandeliondiaries thank you! I LOVE shading, so I'm excited the Harlequin Monteverde special ink looks to be black yet shading and I'm in love with the Captain Hook from Wearingeul shading. Now I'm waiting on Mad Hatter because of you and the Pen Sorbet sale!

How can I learn to get the inks into the pens? I know that is a basic question, but I have no idea what to do with the ink and how to use it unless it’s a pen that comes with it in the barrel.

This is a great question!! I would say fountain pens/ink are definitely are more hands on writing utensil as they do take a bit of maintenance and care. If you want to get started with them, I highly recommend Goulet Pens youtube channel. They have a bunch of very helpful videos about lots of fountain pen goodness!
