I've have an ancient Corsair 760i PSU from 2012 and it's still going strong. What a beast.

Btw man, if this is your second psu to die , you might wanna check all the wall plugs in your house because it might be that the voltage or the current in your house is not stable, my friend had this issue with his house's wiring and it almost cost him his pc

Never trust NZXT unless its the case.

NZXT does a good job making the C1000s seem premium, but in actuality they are only C-tier units, which shouldn’t be used on 1200$+ computers.

Reminds me of when my PSU exploded. It was a no-name PSU that was 12 years old and when it died it somehow took out no components with it.

Corsair PSUs are really good they might not be the best but damn they work fine for a long time

Just an FYI for anyone that has their PSU randomly die while being plugged in to an extension cable: try another slot. Sometimes, the load starts frying the slot and trips the circuit breaker, which won't let you power on again. It also happens when you let the computer go into sleep mode.

That has to be the most well-kept cable managed PC I’ve seen yet.

My NZXT C750 PSU died on me too. I was sleeping and I woke up to a loud pop, it sounded like a .22 caliber. Luckily no other parts were killed.

seemed to have gone amicably as far as i can see from this. When my old power supply died, it smelled like burning, then sounded like sizzling bacon, sizzling got more intense, then with a loud and audible pop, the entire system went quiet in a small puff of smoke. That smell stayed for a solid day and sadly i didnt have a spare on hand to replace it so it was a 1 day shipping from amazon for me lol.

I hope you put in the included psu cables with the new psu. Because that can cause some bad things to happen if you mix cables.

Maybe try unplugging the power cable and plugging it back in before you go out and get a new psu. That method always works for me.

If you try to restart with the power button and it doesn't do it, try removing the power cable, count to 3 and plug it back in. If it starts up after doing this it's almost certainly the power supply. It may also be some component that is partially defective and draws too much power. Power supplies can be damaged by the power grid they are plugged in, I always recommend using some overvoltage /surge protection . Modules that are installed in your house fuse box panel can be used too, to protect the whole house.

Maybe flip the power switch on and off. It will reset the giant relay inside the psu

Everytime that happens your first instinct should be the power supply. It’s the most common problem when that happens

One thing that no one can't deny is how fucking durable Corsair PSUs are, I still use an CX500M since 2015, almost 9 YEARS and it still works like a charm.

In my country stores dont even bring NZXT products (except for cases) because in their words the quality is way too low compared to the main 3 competitors in the market (asus , msi , and gigabyte) and its not just for NZXT that this happens here it also happened to companies like asrock too

Maybe it's heat issue make sure the fan in the psu it's working fine.

This is why I love my sea sonic PSUs. No rebranding. Just pure Seasonic

This actually happened to me a few months ago, the difference is that a week passed by and I tried the old PSU on another PC and it came back to life, still working to this day

Sadly PSU market is something to be very carefull about when deciding what to choose. Personally I've owned evga and corsair power supplies and they surely are very very good I do recommend choosing only one or the other nothing else. Some people say seasonic is also good so there's that

That actually happened on 02/16/24, where my VX-550 not only died, but took off the power grid as well. I didn't have a spare one, soi had to buy a new one. The new PSU I got is DeepCool PF550, which is similar to VX-550, but better quality.

Moral of the story stop using NZXT lol

My spare psu decided to die in the middle of play testing a system just the other day. Was having issues with one ram stick before that. So... Maybe it's still good? Not the psu. The ram.

I had lightning hit some power poles outside my house years ago. My PC did not like it at all. Get a good surge protecter for your PC. Maybe a UPS aswell

I Love NZXT aesthetics, The cases they make are beautiful, I have an H7 and it is perfect but for me PSU is Corsair, there is no other better brand

Fun fact. Most high end PSUs won't kill your PC if they die. Unless its something really catastrophic. But even then, they all have s failsafe switch that will keep your PC from being destroyed.

plot twist: psu didn’t fail and he just turned off the pc acted like it failed acted clueless by trying to “diagnose” the issue conveniently figured out it was the psu in his second try swapped it out with the sponsored product and plugged it in (no pun intended) the process and called it a happy mistake

You should also replace the cables just incase. Some psu manifacturers use different layouts for the pins but seems to work fine in this case but still, just incase

Taking notes to avoid NZXT psu

I'm surprised the NZXT C1000 has died twice, the OEM is Seasonic who are known for quality and longevity. The RMX Shift (which I have too) OEM is CWT which are OK but Seasonic is usually better.

I've had the same 1000w power supply for almost 10 years, and it's still rocking. Yet i know people who've gone through several, my brothers even caught fire one time.

Fun fact this happened to me too (for a bit of context) i was playing war thunder on cristmas and then the rest of the family came so i stopped playing and when i came back my laptop did not turn on at all and luckaly i was repairing another probook at the time and i asked my moms boss if i could keep the probook and a thinkbook and he said yes they are also mine til i do some repairs with my own money or get a desktop and i am still keeping the broken one cause i am wanting to get a new frame cause the frame on my old one was bent open and the screen was broken asking if i can borrow those laptops before cristmas was the best thing i have ever chosen to do

I actually had an old PSU die on me too. Though I wasn't using it for it's intended purpose, as I was using it to power a car stereo. It lasted for about 5 years before it died. I was happy that it failed in a controlled manner like how was shown in this clip.

EVGA makes a pretty good PSU, I’ve had my 750 gold since 2017 and it’s been running like a champ

Psu s generally have a warranty of 10 years so contacting the seller can usually get you a brew unit it a refund

So funny story. During the COVID times (might've been 2021?), I was able to get an RTX3080 Gigabyte AORUS Extreme off of the Newegg Shuffle, albeit overpriced for obvious reasons. At the time, I had a 650W PSU, and wanted to upgrade the PSU, settling with a 1000W PSU Platinum rated PSU. For some reason, I would see games crash at times, which I found odd. I figured the graphics card was faulty, and underclocked the card - no more crashes. Eventually, I got rid of the 3080, and got a 3080Ti. I didn't really see any crashes after that. Fast forward 2023, and I built a new computer (previous one had an I7-7700k) using the same 3080Ti and PSU. Well.... just like in this video, my computer completely shut off. Performed the same troubleshooting steps like this video, but to no avail. Couldn't work on it for a couple days due to work, and it turned on again, only to suddenly shut off..... again. This time, with no hope. So I had purchased a gold rated PSU, same 1000W (much cheaper), and lo and behold, no issue. Warrantied out the faulty PSU (EVGA), and received a TITANIUM rated PSU, which was originally Platinum. Thanks EVGA :)

I built my PC a few weeks ago and my PSU was faulty even before using it. Replaced it with the rm shift instead, and I loved the layout of the sockets. So much easier to plug in the wires compared to other psus.
