Great vid. I’d have to disagree with the “no need to clean” the surface though. My Dad was a physicist who specialized in metallurgy in the defense industry and taught me to solder. The most important part of the soldering process is surface prep. This is true for any metal(or NM) joining process, be it welding, brazing or soldering. Many of the Garden railway guys use a Dremel tool with a wire brush. Hope it was ok to throw in my 2 cents. Great vids though!🙏

Hi, I would add to resqdiver1 helpfull comment, that using flux which is full of acid outdoors, is sure to make problems with oxidation in a short amount of time. I speak from 40 years experience with garden railroading.

Drill tap and screw and some dielectric grease in the joint is usually enough

You can bypass using the blue wire by just applying the solder onto the rail clamps. No unsightly wires.

Can you show What you are using there to be able to solder the wires to the rail?

Sorry for the question, but what is the purpose of the blue wire and do you put that between each joiner of track pieces?
