bit.ly/2CHLudt
In this video, I discuss my Daniel Defense DDM4 V7P, which I call my Shorty General Purpose DI Urban Defense Rifle which you is another way of saying my general purpose urban SHTF rifle.
It's my go-to rifle for chaotic city scenarios where I tested at the Haley Strategic D5 Carbine course.

My daughter got me the SSA trigger for Christmas many years ago. It turned my Massachusetts approved POS S&W 1.0 AR-15 Sport, into a nice accurate AR! Since they banned the sale of new ARs, AKs etc 7 years ago, this is my one & only SHTF rifle. Even with 10rd mags, it's up to the task.

@@jaygreen8662 I'm old, but I've still got my rifle skills. I might last a few days. This is New England, where most people have no small arms combat skills at all. It's still legal to own Pre-Ban AR mags. I saw some for sale last week. "The PRE-BAN (Manufactured before 9/13/94) 30 round AR-15 magazines are here now. $59.95 each". They sell out fast. I picked up a few back when they were only $20 each. My 10 rnd magpuls are really 30 rnd mags and have a plastic insert inside. Removing it would be illegal.. My CMMG .22LR conversion kit mags have a tiny little 10 rnd pin. Removing it would be illegal. So, I'm not totally unprepared for Zombies.

My general purpose/SHTF rifle is a Ruger PC9. In the Eastern region I live it's generally impossible to see more than 100 yards due to tree cover except in zones that are easy to escape from such as roads or the edges of bodies of water, so there's little benefit to a high velocity modern rifle cartridge here. The weapon uses the same ammunition and magazines as my handgun, which keeps my loadout very light and compact and simple. This is especially important because, as a civilian, the pistol is actually my primary weapon most of the time due to concealability, and that's where the brunt of my training goes and what my system is based around, the carbine is only carried occasionally and it's a pure add-on. The 9mm carbine is much less destructive on small game like rabbits than a rifle cartridge and easier to achieve a useful point blank with than an AR due to lower sight height and a trajectory that both rises and falls within a given space, it's basically a laser beam between 15 and 80 yards, so trajectory is eliminated as a factor altogether for practical purposes. At the same time, the 9mm at carbine velocities with the right bullet is a suitable entry level deer round, and in my opinion reaches the point of diminishing returns for terminal performance on human opponents when hollow points are used, the versatility of the cartridge is unmatched. There are even 9mm bullets today proven to defeat quality 3A body armor even at handgun velocities. 9mm is extremely quiet out of a 16" barrel, to the point where I have no qualms about shooting it even in small parks with houses only a few hundred yards away much like a .22, and I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it without earpro in an emergency. A good linear compensator might potentially make standard pressure loads basically hearing safe without needing an NFA device. The weapon uses a takedown design and it fits in most average size backpacks, this is important for transporting it through populated areas or in other situations in which being visibly armed isn't a good idea, and it beats leaving the weapon behind somewhere where it can be stolen or lost. 9mm ammunition is the cheapest centerfire ammunition you can buy and it's also one of the lightest and most compact. Stockpiling, training, and carrying ammo is cheaper and easier than with any other cartridge other than .22LR. The Ruger PC9 is the most versatile weapon I own, the best for the things I actually do with rifles, and the most suitable for living with on foot perpetually in a situation in which vehicular transportation is no longer possible. It's "the one."

I can attest to the beauty of having the Magpul MBUS Pro offset sights on a rifle. I have them on a couple of my ARs. While hunting white tail deer in Central Texas with 6.5 Grendel build, three does came out of a grove about 50 yards away to my right. I had seen them the day before, so it took a moment to register when a buck followed behind them. They didn’t see me behind a fallen tree. By the time I got my rifle up, they were 30 yards away. I knew I wouldn’t have time to get my scope on him, so I tilted my AR and used my 45° offset sights. Obliterated his heart from 15 yards away. He made it about 10 yards before collapsing.

Reminds of the RV in the movie Stripes, the “Urban Assault Vehicle”. That was funny. Wait, so are you. I am not paranoid enough to get an urban assault rifle. Except for zombies.

I like the .300 round and I have the 300 Blackout, and it needs a tune up, that said, I also need a suppressor and mine is only good for CQB, that is what is what it was built for and inside of 100 yards, the 5.56 is No Match.

Thoughts on adding a jp h2 silent capture spring? Garrand thumb said it was an amazing upgrade for this gun.

Dude! just a suggestion but if you are looking for a stock for better aesthetics I suggest trying the new Reptilla RECC-E Stock I think it would make for a great aesthetic addition. I would have one myself, but I "am poor" and cannot afford such luxuries.. awesome content by the way!

UTG Pro S4 would be perfect. I used to run a Mission First minimalist. I tried the S4 and it is sweet. Made the transition. When it's well designed a it works. Label doesn't matter.

I am a poor guy and cannot afford a Giesly trigger, even though I would love to have one. I picked up an inexpensive AR-15 clone, the first thing I did was change the single-stage trigger to a two-stage trigger, even an inexpensive 2-stage trigger makes follow-up shots much faster.

I’m definitely a two stage preferred person. However in no way is a Geissele 2 stage faster than a cmc single stage. Not bc one IS FASTER than the other but given identical lb breaks they are virtually the same function wise and only separated by preference and most importantly training. (this goes for most higher end single or two stage triggers). Not to knock the comment, if you purchased a decent single stage the follow ups may even feel faster depending on brand. Hope you get to try more out.

I like how lightweight the gas system is on Mk18, and quick recoil impulse. But I prefer the PWS MK111. It has a piston system that runs cooler, cleaner, better suppressed, and mlock handguard is lighter than quads, and less aggressive against your clothing when slinged. I think short barrels and short gas direct impingement systems are hard on barrels and buffer springs. The PWS seems to be a well sorted Mk18 sized weapon. And much lighter than HK416

Wish MK111 was a bit shorter.
