Another great tutorial. Motown Fact: On the opening riff of MY GIRL, guitarist ROBERT WHITE used a Gibson L5, and picked only with his thumb similar to Wes Montgomery. He was instructed by Smokey Robison to push down on the strings to make the line pop. White, actually hated the line, feeling it was corny and out of tune. But he did what he was instructed which became a win for us all.

Man you’re saving my ass! Five more days till the wedding gig. Only 1 half decent rehearsal with the band. Bass player canceled twice & over booked for rehearsal. We’re going to show up early in the morning to rehearse before reception at 6:00 pm. It bugs me that the group learn the songs at rehearsal with iPhones & earbuds. Love the chords .

I've been playing a long time and I actually do this song in G with my band because it's better suited for my voice ( there's no way I can do what David Ruffin does with that tenor of his ) But I gotta say you're very good at the way you do these videos and if you were my neighbor I'd be over at your house all the time.

Greetings from Detroit Michigan. Very nice work and tutorial. Love your style and your lessons are awesome. Don't change this lesson but I know Joe Messina who played this song with the Funks. As most of us know, Robert White plays the signature opening riff. Joe played the sharp chord strums on beats 2 and 4 which you have laid out nicely for the verses. The only difference is that Joe plays most of the chords as two note double stops starting at the 8th fret for the C chord (xxxx88), his F is played at xxx10,10 x etc. and his Dm is a xxx101010. Its not something that merits a change to what you have in my opinion though. Your version is great and I only shared this because I appreciate your style very much and thought you'd be interested.
