I love this version of Tennessee Whiskey. My reaction first time hearing Cakra's voice was pretty similar to Taylor's reaction, voices with that much soul you just feel with your whole body. I love Dimash for his versatility, Cakra is a very different artist but he got some impressive versatility as well.

Tennessee Whiskey was written in 1981 by a couple song writers. David Allen Coe picked up on it first and recorded it in 1981. George Jones recorded it in 1983. Chris Stapleton did his cover in 2015.

The songwriters are Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. The original version is a total country sounding song. Chris Stapleton put an R&B touch to his iteration and altered the melody of his version to sound just like Etta James' song, "I'd Rather Go Blind." So, I'd say this is what make Stapleton's song resonate to many people- it's the soul courtesy of Etta James.

I think that the style of the song is not the most important thing but the singer who sings it. Both Chris and Cakra are amazing singers. I suggest "I was wrong " by Chris Stapleton

Cakra Khan sounds like a grown man whereas, Stapleton sounds like a boy singing this song- if we are talking about tone & depth in their voices. Khan takes it to an another worldly level.

YES! Hot Diggeddy DOG! How much testosterone can one man ooze into a voice!? Those complex runs were so solid. He's hugely talented. Yes, Chris was in the Voice and he's a Swedish..... But his version of Tennessee Whiskey is phenomenal but Chakra Khan version is anothe level...an Indonesian with no root to European DNA and looks whatsoever.... It's his singing talent.
